My First purchase of the Year, Tale of Two So Called Slugs and this is why is still love this hobby!

Been anxiously awaiting my first purchase. I thought it was going to be be pretty close to awesomely great and........
.......I think I was right. First off I'm so exited by the look of my new So Called Slug I probably hurried the images and then just inserted it into an existing slug template, but I couldn't contain my happiness.
This is my 1915 target reverse$50 slug J-315 Gilt NGC MS66 purchased from our very own @cardinal
.
.
This is my NEW 1915 target reverse$50 slug J-315 Gilt which I believe is every bit as good as the one above.
.
.
I spoke here about my new pickup and have shown you the Tale of two So Called Slugs, well not quite.......
The Tale is:
Seller stated it was a recent copy but I knew by comparing dies they are exactly the same. Also said it was brass but I knew it had to be gold gilt. Again my pic's are not up to pare but I will try to dig out cardinals' and shoot a picture side by side as each has beautiful luster.
.
I am quoting a few of the past auction descriptions becasue lets face it they are written much better than I could ever do.
.
Heritage Description
_Target Reverse $50 Slug, MS66 NGC Gilt. J-315/HK-424A. R.7. Obverse is Defiant Eagle. Reverse is target reverse facsimile with 50 at center. Listed in the past by NGC as HK-424A. Essentially flawless in execution and preservation. A similar example sold in the March 2010 Heritage auction for $1,495.
From The Jankovsky Collection. _
.
Below information is from NGC collector AOEDAD- TJ and pertains to these.
c1915 Target Reverse $50 Facsimile #1 - J315 / HK 424A - Very Rare .. Ex. Kagin. The obverse has a Humbert Eagle design similar to HK 424 but it is not the same and was not made by I & J. The reverse is the Target Reverse 50 with rays design. Die struck and a very high quality facsimile. Notes accompanying the purchase indicates the facsimile was made by Moise-Klinkner Co. of San Francisco.
.
And Now the third and BEST part......Why I still love this hobby!
Even though I have been super sick the last several months with this kidney transplant medication thing.....which many here are aware and have pm'd me.....btw, I can't thank you guys enough for that.
.
Today my spirits are lifted because my knowledge afforded me the most beautiful raw so called slug & rare at an extremely affordable price. Yes I'm happy I got a good deal but most important is that even sick this hobby instantly picks me up and gives me a high that no money can buy......okay everyone thanks for listening and have a super great day!!!

Beautiful slugs.
I’m impressed with your collection of So called Slugs, and your knowledge of their production.

Thanks. When I first joined a member posted a real $50 gold slug with a different reverse. I pm’d him just to find out what it was. I don’t remember who he was anymore. I was hooked but ughh, the prices!
Then a very dear member bear posted the so called slugs he was collecting and I thought Oooo now that’s a way
I can have some of these and ever since I’ve been collecting and reading up on them.
.
I even managed to get an electrotype that was part of a very controversial gold hoard. I wrote a thread about it

Hey Sis, I'm hoping they get your meds straightened up and that you start to feel better.
I need to get some photos to run past you but had a question or three on these. The biggest one is around the presence or lack thereof of a suspension loop.
Is the presence of a loop a diagnostic as to a pieces age or originality?

Some do have loops for suspension. Not all are newer, several are older. There is a NGC registry that has one of the most detailed images and descriptions I use him and the jankowskey book I sent you. Sorry, spelling is not going to be good tonight, super tired.
Heres his registry

Congrats Stef! I'm glad you are here and enjoying the hobby with us! Your collection and photos are amazing! It's great to have you here sharing and posting with us all!
I'm sorry to hear about your situation but you are making the most of it! I was injured and recovering once. It was hard to do but I had a good set of friends to chat with online which helped me get through it!
Need to amend my 5 letter post on the thread by @braddick
The Medalist (like Stephanie) says ... Slugs
Cool medal / story and a reminder that knowledge is priceless ... and also an encouraging indication that doing what we love can be uplifting, even in the most challenging of times.

Cool
Hope you feel better soon!
@coinsarefun .... Hi Stef, great slugs, great pictures and great information. Hope you feel better and get well quickly. I always look forward to reading your posts. Cheers, RickO
Thank you everyone for you nice comments and well wishes. I still don't know why I am having so many difficulties with the medications on this second kidney transplant but hopefully will get it worked out. Its been almost 5 years on this second one .I would think it would be easier by now.....but I keep chugging along.
.
I don't want this health issue to overshadow my extreme happiness over finding my newest so called slug.
It shows you that there are still great things waiting to be found.
