    I’m guessing 62. The stuff between the rays of the reverse indicates some surface disturbance. Could be a 58 depending on how it looks in hand.

    I haven't had much luck in getting good images of the surface of coins in slabs... from the images, I guess either 58 (interpreting breaks in luster as wear) or 62/3 (breaks in luster are attributable to flatness of strike and imaging through plastic)

    Not true. CoinFacts shows photos for many, many 1921’s with grades from MS67 all the way down to 1.

    Some sort of tomfoolery is going on there.

    Top pop 1921s are MS67, and I think I'm familiar with almost all of those either from seeing them either in-hand or in auction photos.

    I guess it was thrown into the modern grading pile and those standards were used ( no marks -> 70; blemish ->69). o:)

    Not being a Dollar expert I wondered what others thought of it and what the owner may actually expect when he returns it. I suppose I could have asked to guess the "mechanical error" grade.

    I was also interested if anyone saw it as a 69...

    I saw a 1921 HR at a pawn shop here in Yankee country for $150 that was about the worst I've viewed. But with GS at $150 in VG you have to wonder if prices on these are still rising.
