I haven't had much luck in getting good images of the surface of coins in slabs... from the images, I guess either 58 (interpreting breaks in luster as wear) or 62/3 (breaks in luster are attributable to flatness of strike and imaging through plastic)

Not even a real cert # ... so either fake or typo that has been corrected ... no chance that's a 69, or a 67, or probably a 60 anything

Why use an obviously mislabeled coin for guess the grade?
Not being a Dollar expert I wondered what others thought of it and what the owner may actually expect when he returns it. I suppose I could have asked to guess the "mechanical error" grade.
I saw a 1921 HR at a pawn shop here in Yankee country for $150 that was about the worst I've viewed. But with GS at $150 in VG you have to wonder if prices on these are still rising.

What grade did it get. I could guess but don’t quite follow your question Is this a GTG?

Yes; guesses/ thoughts appreciated!
Obverse too dark, hard to tell.
The owner was expecting a 64...

Well... pictures are a bit tough to determine wear...but if wear is what I see... then AU58... if not, then MS63. Cheers, RickO

I will be surprised if it's MS, my guess is AU58.
AU 58.

I’m guessing 62. The stuff between the rays of the reverse indicates some surface disturbance. Could be a 58 depending on how it looks in hand.

MS60. Poorly struck with many marks. A coin I would not buy.
Not true. CoinFacts shows photos for many, many 1921’s with grades from MS67 all the way down to 1.

Typical central obverse weakness, but well struck otherwise.
I dunno. I think probably MS-64 at best.

I kind of think I maybe see a little wear.

OK, love the guesses and thoughts; here are the full slab images:
Owner expected a 64 and got a 69???
OK. I'll make my first guess. That reverse looks beat to hell. AU-50 would be a gift.

Coin was reported and cert nuked...
Some sort of tomfoolery is going on there.
Top pop 1921s are MS67, and I think I'm familiar with almost all of those either from seeing them either in-hand or in auction photos.
It's a mechanical error, been making the rounds. I should have recognized it.

I was way off
I guess it was thrown into the modern grading pile and those standards were used ( no marks -> 70; blemish ->69).
Wow I need to let him send in my coins. Haha🤯 is there a buy back on that one.
Hoard the keys.
wow... could you imagine what goes through your mind after opening the box from PCGS and seeing a grade like that?
...and then reality kicks in...

So there is no answer.
Sometimes people like to have a little fun on here.
I was gonna say Details but I didn't realize just how many.

I was also interested if anyone saw it as a 69...

I've wasted time doing stuff more stupid than this I suppose.....I'm trying to forget about 'em though.
Huh?
