Little luster bomb. 1980's? I'll guess 63.
Nice looking coin. 63?

My first impression is 63

63/63
The date's right on it: 1883.
They probably called it a 64. I’ll bet it’s higher nowadays.
Great coin!

I like 🙂
Agree. ANACS was strict with gold in the pre-grade-inflation days. Today it would probably get a higher grade.

Gold dollars in the 1880s come nice. They did not circulate very much, and the mint did a great job in making them. This one has the usual nice luster for the period, but there are a number of small marks which account for the grade.
I think so. I have 4 gradings I need to use by March.
I like the AU 55/55 pieces. I don't think they used AU58 as I have never seen an ANACS photo cert with the grade of 58/58.
Terrific coin
