RPM on this 1911-S Barber Quarter

An S over S (perhaps a small S). Interesting. I DO believe this is an RPM.

Nice find - you can even see the die crack by the right wing tip!

That is something Barber Quarter specialists will like. I have no idea what premium it brings but it is clearly visible and that is a big plus. Are the many small marks on the obverse on the coin or on the plastic?

    Yes, an RPM.

I don't have any listed in my files, but I'll check

Yes, there is foggy-like scratching in the plastic center... but there are minor neck and temple scratches as you can see in the obverse pic. You have to tilt it just right to see them. What you are really asking I believe if it is a cleaned coin in a straight-graded holder. My opinion? borderline but it is market-able.

Yes, listed in Lawrence as 11S, 701.

    Also, MM position 303.

I don't think it has been cleaned but it was subjected to something that caused more small marks than I like to see on a coin of that grade. That, unfortunately, is a negative and would cause me to reject the coin if it were in a straight graded holder.
