I put together a set of commemoratives from each state I lived in (nine)... Not all had one (Florida), so I added a state token for FL. I really don't understand why commemoratives are not more popular. Most have interesting designs and are (for the most part) available at reasonable prices. Cheers, RickO

We will start with the Vermont commemorative half dollar.

The reverse that was proposed to be used on this coin appeared only on the Bennington Battle Medal. It shows Fay's Tavern, which was also known as the Catamount Inn. It was the meeting place for Ethan Allan and the Green Mountain Boys. Instead of showing the building, the Fine Arts Commission pushed to have a catamount placed on the reverse instead. The imagery flew over the heads of just about everyone.

Here is a picture of the tavern which burned down in the 19th century.

I see one every now and then but just not the right one for me. There was one I hesitated on a couple of years ago that sold to someone else and I have regretted ever since.
