Any solution to this US Mint CC issue?

I currently have 4 orders (all morgans, peace and t2 w proofs) on backorder with let's say CC 1234 at the US Mint.

CC 1234 had fraud committed on it, so I and my bank had to cancel that card. I just received a new one in the mail, let's say CC 6789

After activating CC 6789 I called the US Mint to see if I could update payment methods on my 4 open backordered orders from CC 1234 to CC 6789 and they told me nothing can be done and those orders are destined to be cancelled.

I am incredibly depressed as I felt so fortunate to have pre-ordered all the coins I was hoping to get for the year, and am now faced with not getting any....

Assuming both US Mint reps I spoke to are correct in that there's nothing that can be done, but wanted to check with you all as a last ditch effort.

Is there anything I can do to salvage these orders or should I work on acceptance? lol, ugh.

That is what the Mint says. I'm not sure why that is their policy, but I've heard it repeatedly. You can try calling them 30 times or so until you find someone willing or able to change the payment method. I'm not sure there is anyone, but it can't hurt to try.

Unfortunately I don’t see them changing the policy even though it really needs to be changed. What I think we will find is these various dollars offered again later this year when they go to finally process payment and some fail for whatever reason.

That is why I talked to 2 different reps; hoping one would help.

I have a free hour tomorrow and will try and continue spinning the customer service wheel to see if I can find someone to help me. Honestly feel like I'm in a nightmare with this.

What pees me oh the most is that some scammer committed fraud and effed up my US Mint orders. @#$!*&

Good luck, but I think you are wasting your time. Perhaps a different bank issued cc might do the trick...again, good luck with that also.

Could be a long shot but could you call the bank and ask them to authorize that one transaction from the mint if you give them the exact amount?

@Mgarmy Sounds out there, but not as out there as an institution that won't allow CCs to be updated after pre-ordering a product, so I'll give it a shot.

Would designating a specific credit card for use only with Mint orders reduce the risk of this happening in the future?

Talking to customer service reps isn't going to get the job done or the policy changed. They're simply automata following the script. You need to go over their head to someone who can actually see that they have a problem and can do something about it.

This is a write the HQ issue.

If they plan to continue mint to demand, they need to handle this.

They also need to not cancel an order overnight. Give the order 48 hours to fix the issue.

Then cancellations can be re-released on a second chance day at 12:00 instead of the insane for even the east coast 7:30

I just called the Mint to confirm this information. The rep I spoke with insisted that they could not change cc numbers pre-shipment, or at shipping via the "hold" process. IOW, if the cc number provided at ordering became invalid, for any reason, the order would be cancelled.

So, how does the information I received during my telephone call sync with the information in the video from "Silver Seeker"?

The audio clip specifically addresses the issue of orders without credit card information. While I failed to inquire about this scenario during my call, I assume this means that the Mint plans to treat orders with missing cc information differently than orders with invalid cc information.

I truly hope that the rep I spoke with is wrong, and that the the Mint plans to accommodate customers with invalid cc information, as well. Time will tell.

If you read the info posted in that vid you will see that the next orders in line can be fulfilled before the one with issues, and once the issues are resolved then the order will be re-inserted back in line. Problem is that they can still run out of product before that happens. The standard information I've always heard from the Mint for years was "keep your CC info up to date because if it isn't, they go to the next guy".

This is not the final word on this. As I said before I can not reveal my contact working on this but you will be seeing something when it is resolved. Hang in there you should be able to get your coins when it is time.

She, however, maintained that an invalid cc number could not be resolved.
Hence, no re-insertion in line.

Here's hoping that @HATTRICK is prescient.

I can only reply to the place in line at this point. In reality as hundreds of posts over the years show it is more or less the luck of the draw when your coin gets shipped. Orders from days later are shipped while others are still waiting for shipment.
The place in line is basically irrelevant when it comes to their fulfillment process.

Not necessarily. Any card can get hacked. All cards eventually expire.

But the problem is, every time you talk to a mint employee, they say something different. I don't have much faith in what any single employee says anymore. If I was a betting man, I'd say you will lose the coins that don't have the payment info displayed. And I have an order for 20 cc/o morgans that is like this.

I suggested that it might reduce the risk, not eliminate it. The fewer the businesses that have your credit card number, the fewer the opportunities for hackers to access it.

Mine are all blank. Got an invoice order info etc. but it’s not extended with item cost or totals

Nobody was allowed to order once the coins went unavailable, so there's nobody for your coins to go to until the mint has a secondary offering. The rep may have been saying they can't change the number on an existing order, but that the hold process allows you to essentially reorder through the rep during the hold period before cancelled orders are put back on the mint's website for anyone to grab in the secondary offering. You'll lose your place in line in the shipping department, meaning your label gets printed later than it otherwise would have.

Not my understanding from the interaction. She said that they could not resolve an invalid cc number, and that the order would be cancelled. No option to correct, or "reorder", during a hold period. Cancelled, and added back to the inventory for the "secondary offering".

Note #1 - Based on the video from "Silver Seeker", it appears that the Mint plans to accommodate customer with missing cc information. This missing information was, after all, caused by a 'glitch' at their end.

Note #2 - I am relaying the current policy, as I understand it, based on my call with the Mint. Notwithstanding, @HATTRICK has suggested that the Mint is working to change this policy (i.e., provide an opportunity for customers with orders to 'fix' invalid cc information before cancellation). I hope that he is correct.

Not so sure about your statement: " a lot." This has happened numerous times before on "hot" issues. The Mint looses a few unhappy customers, but in the long run, most likely gains more. That's my take.

As someone stated above, call your bank and tell them you preauthorized four charges for items shipping in October, and you need the charge on the old / original credit card number authorized by the bank. (It may not work but this might be your best bet.)

When I called my CC/bank they said they could neither monitor nor authorize the charge to go through from the US Mint come October/November. The representative at my CC couldn't understand why the Mint handles charges in this way. I had no answer for her.

Any solution to this US Mint CC issue?
