Too many people would get confused like they did with the SBA dollar. Many people thought they were quarters.

Sure, sounds like a good use of government resources.

If we're going for novelty, the Mint should bring back copper large cents and pre-33 gold denominations.

Nah, bring back $2.5, $5, $10, and $20 coins. Maybe even $50. Then discontinue the $1-$20 bills. Won’t happen but it would be neat.

    Why?

With inflation, coins worth less than dollar almost worthless. The quarter used to be the king coin, now it's next to useless. It's like it was when I vacationed in London in 2013. The 1 pound coin was like a penny.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

$5 coin... Make it out of copper... The size of a half dollar... Would have some bullion value and big enough for a sweet design...

Bi-metallic coins would work, too, at least for the higher denominations.

By the by, by and large, do you buy bi-metallic coins, or just say bye-bye?

Thanks! They started these in 2003 and they're still making them (and will probably continue to do so as long as they can make a buck on 'em.)

Luxembourg also made them from 2009 thru 2018. Here's one. I have complete sets of both.

I doubt any minor denomination coins will be minted anymore.... More like discontinued... Though public opinion and political pull will prevent that for the foreseeable future. Cheers, RickO

What they should do is eliminate the $1 bill so the dollar coins would finally circulate!

Today's money handlers can't seem to make change without an electronic device. This indicates an inability to count by one, two, three, 5, 10 , 20, 25, or 50 , in order to get to 100. At least by a large contingency of people.
But being a coin geek, I'm all for a twenty cent piece....uncirculating.

    Clad ?

I can't remember the last time I spent actual money. Every store that I go to takes credit cards. Even vending machines and parking meters take credit cards.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
