Here is the PCGS photo. What do you think of the grade. Should I try the upgrade game now? It does seem better that most of the MS63s out there. What do you think kept it from a higher grade?

Wow. Amazing that it wasn't harshly cleaned or damaged. That's an awesome pick.
The dime is no slouch either. Those are really tough to find with original surfaces though. Did you send it in too?
I didn't send the dime in. I thought that it would just come back as cleaned because of the super black toning. But I will be considering it on my next submission.

I don’t think it would cac at 63 let alone upgrade. Strike, luster disruptions, hits on Buffalo and rims. Count your blessings and keep it moving. While I know marks on the rev are counted less it should be the opposite when the rev is the money side like this coin IMHO
Whoops, duplicate post. Consider this a courtesy bump for a great cherrypick stork.

Thanks for your input. I am over the moon that it did come back with a grade since I was worried that it may have been cleaned on the charm bracelet. I was just looking at lots of other graded coins on ebay that were graded higher but did not look as nice as what I thought mine was. So, before it came back I was thinking it would either be no grade or a 64. But,
I have always had a tough time grading buffaloes because of the vast differences in strike and the die erosion. I also have always absolutely loved uncirculated Buffaloes with nice luster.

It is a hell of a story and you suck is def warranted. It is a nice coin and I get 63, that said ownership always adds a point.
Well done, put a normal 37d (AU) back in the bracket BTW
Does it really have to upgrade ? Does it really have to CAC ? A freaking 3 leg in a charm bracelet and you want to squeeze out more. The HOME RUN has been hit.

It is not about squeezing out more from it or being disappointed in the value, I’m beyond thrilled with that and right now I doubt I will ever sell it. It was more about being disappointed in my grading ability on a raw coin. And yes I do see this as pretty much a grand slam home run.
Thanks
Speaking of charm bracelets. I recently lost one. It had a few coins on it, including an old dime and a buffalo nickel. It was lost somewhere between Ocean City Maryland, and Venice Beach California. Anybody seen it?

I don't think it is the one you lost. It has a charm from Catalina Island which is just west of Venice.
Thanks to all for the congratulations. Still sinking in how lucky I got.

That has pretty good luster for a 3 legged. Maybe that gash on the bison's shoulder held it back.
This could "should" be a human interest story in Coin World. I believe it's a great story that should make your local news and then go nationwide!

Congrats! I've been collecting 50 years plus and never have come close to a find like yours. Enjoy it

I like it as a 63. FWIW I think yours is more appealing than the toned one that sold at HA for $4900+

Amazing. And so great that someone who can fully appreciate it plucked it out of the sale (and shared here).
