    In this hobby you better get used to it. You just got to move on and hope for a better outcome next time.

    @JimTyler

    I had the opposite outcome, well ... maybe not opposite. Different.

    Thank you! To whoever let my bid stand at less than 80% of my max.

    Sometimes the loser turns out to be the winner, in the end.

    I chased a few that I'm happy that I didn't "catch".

    I wasn’t being sarcastic. I realized my bid was off. I totally expected to have to buy this coin and began this thread in a moment of relief. BTW $1000+ I wouldn’t have given a 💩 if it was $100 coin.

    I've been saved by a higher bid on occasion myself. Congrats!

    Set your max bid and live with the results.
    I know how difficult this is to do and must admit that I only follow this advice 98% of the time. The remaining 2% can be costly. I do not do Nuclear bids, so I can recover quickly on the extra costs.

    My problem was I knew this coin but apparently I don’t know it anymore. Placed a bid on history then learned price has come way down. I paid more for one 30 years ago. Actually I bought it raw had it slabbed came back unc. and sold it for more 30 years ago.

    Your smartest bid is often times the bid you didn’t make.

    So wise grasshopper. Where the hell were you last night ?

    I had what I thought was a strong bid on an item last night, to the point where I thought I might regret owning it.

    I was shocked to see the result, it sold for more than 50% over my max bid.

    I feel like I was bailed out, but wonder why it was bid up so high.

    A couple of weeks ago I almost accidentally bit $2000+ on an item I was trying to bid $20 and change on. I am really, really glad I payed attention and didn't do that, although I did end up winning it around $18 so I guess I would have been ok either way.
