    MS-64.

    The 1878-CC dollar used to be considered a "common date" and didn't get much respect. The prices are a lot higher now than they were 30 or 40 years ago.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Beautiful piece! I'd say 64 as well... I've noticed prices on Morgan Dollars in general creeping up.

    I don’t think that it was ever a common date but the prices were a lot lower back then, than they are now (as with everything). I remember, In the early to mid 1990s, when you could get a ‘78 CC GSA for around $100. Most weren’t graded back then, so you could cherry pick the really nice ones.
