When I first saw this one what jumped out at me was how close the mint mark (S) is to the lapel (Chest) of Lincoln!
I looked at several on line images of this coin and I couldn't find one that has Lincoln's chest that far out towards the mint mark.
Then even with the poor image of the reverse the VDB looks more like LDB??
On the Obverse the letters in Liberty seems to have random slants or tilted wrong?
What's up with the wheat buds on the right wheat ear?

That’s the “getting smokes” die crack variety.

Believe the V. may have been struck to change look. Slant in B looks ok. Periods look good. Mintmark appears correct. Just my guess that the coin is legit.

Okay, follow the blue added line between the outline of the front of Lincoln's coat and the date and mint mark of these two coins.
Also, if you look at the word LIBERTY it appears that the LIB is a larger font than the ERTY.

Even the date is touching the chest. Looks like one of the struck counterfeits coming out of China these days.

no good. not really close to one of the 4 known positions of mm.
It looks like the line is a scratch. Sometimes distracting marks are placed on "questionable authenticity" coins to draw attention away from diagnostic features.

EBay should have a special policy for certain raw coins. No honest seller with a clue would list a raw unc SVDB nor would any buyer with a clue buy one. OK, it could happen, but the odds are very long. EBay doesn't permit other items to be listed at their discretion, coins like this should be in that category.
I would not purchase it.
How are the seller's credentials?

Kennedys are my quest...
Seller is fairly new, but has sold several 09S VDB's, one of which is in a pcgs holder. The coat lapel all are concerned with is not part of the die, but a scratch or die crack, most likely a scratch. Then, this is just my opinion.

The coin.............as it looks.............is an impossibility and could not be struck looking like that coming out of the Mint. There is no way that the date and mintmark can be located there, OR the larger LIB.

Pete, I just noticed this on the obverse. In the Slogan "IN GOD WE TRUST" do you see a font size difference in the letters in GOD, the font size for the G & O seems smaller than the letter D?
Also, no matter what angle I look at the date the last nine looks to be lower than the rest of the numbers?

looks like a scratch
Reported.
i retract my statement. i saw that scratch and thought it was the front of the bust and that the mm was WAY out of line, now, not so much. back to the drawing board on this one.
Date looks OK. Thing is it is WAY WAY too close to Lincolns' coat (indeed touching it).
There was no die that was made by the Mint that produced that coin............PERIOD.
Pete
That's not the coat, it's a scratch
All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.
Look at the different font size in LIBERTY the LIB looks to have a larger font than the ERTY does, same thing with the D in GOD.
Notice how the last 9 in the date is lower than the rest of the date no matter what angle you view it.
I'd like to see a better picture of the VDB.

WOW. I didn't see that. GEE. What an idiot I am! All that wailing for nothing.
Thanks for waking me up!
