Found another 09S-VDB that I'm calling Fake/Counterfeit (Seller has lots of positive feedback)

Color looks chemically tone!
Its not graded!
The period following the "D" in V.D.B is in wrong position!
This listing is a Buy It Now! So, the whoever it is here that makes the wind blow and gets this listings pulled might want to act quick on this one. $1,285.00 for a fake/counterfeit.
P.S I just checked this sellers other listings and for those here who has an eye for US silver dollars might want to take a look to see if you can spot any fakes/counterfeits.

The seller's silver dollars in the paper flips would be the first to check out, here is one, but it may be fine, I'm not calling it.

More than you can ever want to know about the two different positions of the period after the D can be found here:

And FWIW, I do not like the coin in the OP's post, but I would like to see better pictures of it.

I keep this on hand, it keep across this forum sometime back.

Is that a double negative?
My vote is fake.... The period after the D is usually my first check point... after that I start to look at the position of the S. Cheers, RickO
Wow...
So much still to learn.
Very informative thread.

It's a fake but maybe ebay thinks it's real. It's doubtful that they have any real experts among those on staff who have the power to pull auctions.100% positive feedback seller. 30 day return privilege.

I don't like it at all.
"Best offer accepted"
and I note that is the second one posted that had the same surfaces and color
Or, this seller makes ebay to much money for ebay to want to pull the listing!

I don't not like it less
The surfaces look suspicious to me.
Almost like a cast job.

The whole coin is bad.
how about some extra eyes on the 14-d. kinda tough to tell on this obv from the image.
The listing reports that the coin sold this afternoon at just after 4 PM EST-- WOW. I wonder how eBay processes and vets reports that question the authenticity of a coin. The point has been made that eBay staff do not likely have resources to adequately vet reports. Perhaps eBay should consider engaging an expert or at least holding the seller accountable to verifying authenticity once a report is issued, especially if multiple reports are submitted. This example presents an important lesson for all of us.
Even a blind collector using his fingers to see could figure out that the so-called '14-D shown here is really a poorly done shaved first '4' 1944-D. I recently bought an altered date xf or so grade 1944 penny at a coin store I frequent. It has no 'D' on it. Someone did a superb job of shaving the first '4' to make it appear as a '1'. The store was offering it as a genuine '14 Philadelphia issue until I pointed out that it was really an altered date. The piece was so well-done as an altered date I had to have it. Offered $2 for it and my offer was accepted.

I would add that the store owner would never have bought the altered '44 I discussed to sell as a genuine '14. A rookie employee probably thought the coin was genuine and that's how it ended up in the dealer's case for sale.I speculated that whoever did the alteration might have considered trying to add a 'D' later but never got around to it.
