Cherry Picker's Trophys
Hi guys, this is what you call, "reaping in the Harvest". We cherry pickers know that when we finally reel in a catch. No coin emotion is better. Except when we have our Trophy documented and entombed in a slab. To not only officiate the coin but to show it off as well. Post one of your Cherries inside any well respected holder. Thanks
Original cost, $1, plus grading fee.
Here's one of mine

1886 Morgan Vam 20 x 3 unattributed. Another 3 raw.
Over six months looking at every auction (est. 60,000).
Not sure if they are still TV'd.
Nice, well earned profits.
BST: KindaNewish (3/21/21), WQuarterFreddie (3/30/21), Meltdown (4/6/21), DBSTrader2 (5/5/21) AKA- unclemonkey on Blow Out
Here are two that I got. Both were previously slabbed without attribution. Both got a numerical upgrade upon submission to boot. Both were picked out of on line auctions by bigger auction houses.

Most of my picks are still raw, heck a lot of my collection is raw.

But this one was fun so I got it in a PCGS 58 slab.

Here's a doubled die I cherried a few years ago. I found two of these, one in MS65.
And this one-1948 DDR-001-
Also too many to list, a couple thousand going back to 1962, many moderate to major doubled dies in all series.
Too many to list, but at one time I had in my possession, 5 of the 34 DDO1 Lincolns. The 3 shown, and 2 other MS64RB examples. PCGS had only attributed 7 total back then.
This 09-S was the S/S variety and at the time was a pop 1.
Make no mistake, Bob (Watersport) has always been the Lincoln cherrypicking King around here.
Cherried this one back in 2000 for $12. PCGS XF45.
Many years ago, Bought it on Ebay for $300 raw and sold it at a coin show to a dealer for $2600 (raw proof).
Pictures look very high grade but there were a lot of hairlines on the coin.
"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)
"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)
I don't have a picture, but I bought an Australian proof penny at a show that was marked as "UNC" for $2. Sold it on eBay for $450. The buyer returned it because he said it wasn't a proof. Took it to a show and sold it to a dealer there for $1200.
These numbers are ASTONISHING!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I had similar results when my set of the Top 25 Doubled Dies in the Washington Quarter series sold as a set at auction for just under 24 grand. I cherried nearly every coin for a total of under $2500.

Also picked up an 1888 proof Morgan that graded PF63 a month later for $200 or so as I recall. Sold at $3,000.

Amazing cherry picking going on.....Haven't seen this many cherries since I was a kid, picking them from a tree for canning....
Good work guys. Cheers, RickO

How about when you Cherrypick the dealer tasked with helping to assemble one of the greatest hoards of all time and you Cherrypick a higher grade example than what the big great hoard has. Does that count?

Here's another one I Cherried. PCGS took care of the rest. Lol. $1 cost, plus grading fee.

I normally don't certify my cherrypicks, the one exception I can recall was when the registries first started and I sent in a pile of mid-grade Lincoln Cent doubled dies that were suddenly in high demand for variety sets.

I'm in the process of cherrying a BIN coin off eBay. A potential 3X increase in vaIue over the $110 I paid. I'll write more when the coin arrives.
Essentially my Box of 20 for 2021 thread is pure profits from wise and lucky grading choices.
Three AH Kennedy halves is all the varieties I can claim for 2021.

3 'Double Eye' Jeffersons and 2 RPMs from the same roll:
I not only cherrypick varieties, I also pick really nice coins. These all came from a bargain box of 2X2's at a show for less than $10 each:
I picked up this 1951 BTW commemorative half with an unattributed rim clip, no mention of it in the listing at all, I just tripped over the pics while looking for a different coin:
I also picked up a 1936 Walking Liberty Half in XF/AU with a nice DDO:
The pics above are all from the eBay auctions, I haven't had time to take my own pics.

Cherry picking is a way of life! Just picked a 1863 IHC that the die marriage has not been attributed before.
"That's why I wander and follow La Vie Dansante"
Bought this 1841-o 50c on ebay for slightly over $200 (baseball crack reverse), and it graded PCGS AU53. Still have it. It was pop. 1/0 at PCGS for a while after I had it certified, but there are a few better ones in holders now.
Bought this 1875-s micro-s half for a pittance on ebay (like $50 or so?). Yeah, it's cleaned, but it's such a rare variety.
Finally, we have this nice 1867 Snow-1 Indian 1c, bought for the non-variety price. At the time, people did not care much about the variety, but it brings a good premium these days.
I almost forgot my best cherrypick of all time: this 1795 V-10 half dime. It's in an old NGC fatty holder overgraded at XF45, when in reality, it is a nice, original VF35+. I bought it unattributed (and it did not take long for me to buy it, overgraded or not). With less than 10 examples known in all grades, the V-10 is the rarest die marriage in the Flowing Hair H10c series.
AWESOME!
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.No images. I cherry picked both the 1943/2 and 1943 DDO for $5 each. PCGS graded them MS64 and MS65. Still remember the DDO, it was at the ANA in Chicago in 2011. Looking through a Red Box of 2x2s full of 1943's. That one stuck out.
Bought this dime on ebay for $35 business strike and sent it to NGC at the time and had it conserved and it graded Proof. Sold it to HJBerk for $300 a while later.

It isnt your typical cherry pick of a DDO or DDR and so on, but it was an antique store cherry pick back in 2009. It was the summer before my senior year in high school and i paid $25 for it. I still have the receipt proving it.
