I might point out that the vaccines currently in use were subject to clinical trials, with volunteers- in great numbers and their side effects, efficiency and safety profiles were carefully analyzed. Though there may be long term unknowns, I might assure you that there are potential long term health problems associated with getting an active COVID-19 infection, and by my estimation, that risk far exceeds any that might arise from the vaccine.

    I’m outta here!
I haven’t personally insulted anyone, and just got promoted to “expert collector” so hopefully I won’t get banished.

It’s been fun, and at least I went down fighting! :-)

Your posts were far and away some of the least objectional or confrontational from the pro side kudos, its nice to see someone that does not have call others names to make a point.

Yet we see a great number of immediate and unexpected side effects being reported regularly. There is no doubt that because of great need vaccines were rushed to market. At the moment I fear this "rush" more than I fear the virus. When that changes I will get the vaccine.

Lots of great U.S. coins in this thread.....

Well, I bought myself a 1955 DDO as a celebrity/retirement gift- to myself a few months back.
Haven’t done my own photos of it yet, as I’m still getting organized following the chaos of retirement, selling the house and moving. Haven’t shared it here... but will eventually.
Would be great to see and buy coins in person again.
I think we’re all working towards that end.

We have a saying in aviation regarding the weather/flying...
    "Looks good...You first."

I'm a bit apprehensive about Pfizer & Moderna.
My choice would be Novavax & I really think they dropped the ball on PITTCoVax.
Anyone else here have biochem opinion?

@RYK once everyone has had the chance to get the vaccine, why would it still be necessary to require them? Anyone that wants protection has it, and those that chose to turn it down accept the risks. I am still on the fence. I am 36, so have not had the chance yet, but my parents and sister have.

Herd immunity is the goal. In order to hit it we need north of 80-90% vaccinated and/or having had the virus and developed long term antibodies with staying power (jury still out on how long the staying power is on both the vaccine and having survived it naturally). Once we get to herd coin shows and normalcy will be back in force. Fingers crossed

Ready Aim Fire- I read about PittCoVacc in Lancet. That is the skin patch one right? Had not heard they went to phase three trials. It was not cancelled was it? The more candidates that come to the market the quicker this things gets under control.

and herd will depend upon those unwilling to be willing.

there was the measles outbreak in ... 2019? early 2020? where the anti-vaxers due to religious reasons caused a localized outbreak. (let's not go down the religious road tonight)

the "bug" is always going to be out there now, just like measles, it will take vaccine participation to keep it at bay. and the more we keep it at bay, the less the likelihood that it mutates into something we don't have a vaccine for and potentially has worse profile.

we had coin shows before, and we do not have coin shows now .. not because of anyone not wearing a mask as much as how virulent it is and how likely it is that people get sick, really sick, die, or even recover but with lasting damage.

AlanSki - That's what I'm talking about!!! So why do you still have to wear a mask?

As a simple courtesy to you fellow citizens to do your small part in containing the virus just like others are doing for you. Courtesy is a two way street.

Are there any other vaccines in current use that employ the same "technology" as the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines?

There are others than those that utilize mrna

Are they full of side effects too?
