I’m not going to debate it, either. But I think it would have been more equitable to have posted all, and not just some of the messages, in order.
No need to be equitable. I came across a bad buyer, shared the experience and caught the wrath of a wannabe moderator. Gave him a small peek at a private conversation to try to show him both sides.
What started out as a public service to fellow sellers has turned into a discussion about the parties posting to the discussion.
My contribution to this thread is now complete. As I said earlier, block or don't block, I could care less.
There is a need to be equitable if you’re going to start a thread suggesting that someone be blocked and readers only hear your side of the story.
The buyer’s first message wasn’t what I expected, having first heard your summary. And based on it, your reply to him sounds a bit dismissive. Of course, no one here knows all of what was said by each of you. Now, to borrow your words “my contribution to this thread is now complete”.
The buyer is clearly assigning blame to the seller for delays caused by USPS. What more do you really need to know to realize that he's being unreasonable?
At the point when the buyer did that, probably nothing. However, a different initial reply from the seller might have led to a different chain of events. An> @Kurisu said:

Always call Ebay when there is a threat of a negative or positive review in return for something they may or might not do...Ebay doesn't like that! Request a call back and invite ebay to a have a look at the messages, they will look, trust me.
OP: Have you ever called fleebay and have they ever returned a phone call to you? If so, you must be very special to them.
You don't call them... you request a call back...and yes, they call back every single request, sometimes in minutes.
How can there be a call back if there’s no call? Do you mean you messaged them and requested that they call you?

They may not always be helpful, or even speak English, but they always call.
I've found that even if they have an accent...they will in fact be quite helpful and if they don't know something they will find out. Depends on call volume and what time of the day you call whether you get a "local" or not, I have found it's completely irrelevant...for the last couple decades :-)
They try to help, but they had me screaming last week after 4 attempts to explain the problem to him. It was unusual, but his English was not up to par. I spent 30 minutes trying and he then told me to hang up and try again later.

Besides what large company requiring a lot of "hand holding" customer service isn't struggling to actually do so at the moment lol?!

Well, eBay called me yesterday for you know what.
I was really obnoxious to the agent and he hung up on me, LMAO
I trust @derryb a solid forum member. He did everything right. It’s outta his hands once he shipped the package off. Plain and simple. I don’t understand how this thread can bring all of this energy that it has. @derryb is doing our community a favor by posting this. I for one would never want to do business with said customer for the reasons described here.
Thank you @derryb for sharing this bad transaction with us. This buyer is is now blocked.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Derryb, thank you for posting. I know, from time on the forum, that you have been aboveboard and logical in many things. Sorry you went through the buyer's mess that he gave you and the mess that a poster gave you in this thread. Seems that every thread that poster, and a couple others that didn't show up here (yet?), post in, they never seem to do less than 12 complaining/arguing posts in those threads. Really ups the post count though
Negative feedback comments have been removed by ebay. They initially said feedback must remain until the case was closed. I pointed out the comments were libelous and had nothing to do with the claim and reminded them that I had put them on notice to the false accusation that could have a negative impact on my ebay business. Feedback was then removed within ten minutes.
Seller messaged today, much calmer, regretting the feedback and agreeing delay was not my fault.
Now if we can just get jmlanzaf that moderator's position.

Funny how in these argumentative threads it's always the same two self-righteous parties who keep them afloat and blow them way out of context to satisfy themselves in some sick way. I get the feeling everyone is tired of it.

OP sold a coin through eBay that was delayed in the mail. Buyer got annoyed, blamed OP for delay, and promised to leave negative feedback. OP started this thread disclosing buyer's eBay ID and the communication thread between them. Some people here complained that doing so was improper. A lot of yadda yadda yadda ensued. OP got the negative feedback removed by eBay, made nice with the buyer after the fact, and deleted buyer's eBay ID from the thread.
