This is my first GTG :)
I'm thinking about sending it to our host and wanted some opinions from the forum.
Plus there has been a couple of interesting GTG for Peace dollars recently. ;)

    IMO
    AU 50 at best

There isn't wear that I see...
    I'd say shot at 64.
Not gonna lie, I'd hit that with a q-tip of MS70 to get the crud off.

    63 for me.

Might be the difference between a 63 and 64.
I'd still lean towards the 64 side, though pcgs often reminds me that I'm usually a point off.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

For me the reverse holds it to a max 63. I am not seeing any wear.

    Nice coin.
My eyes see a 64 but our hosts might see 63.
Of course they would be wrong and I would be right ;)

I also like it and believe 63-64 range based on pics.

62- the reverse bag marks are just too distracting for me to consider a higher grade - The bag marks at and between the U and R of PLURIBUS combined with the other bag marks in the field and rays to the right of the eagle hurt my grade analysis.

I'm with the 63 crowd here. I'm not seeing wear, but the cheek shows a bit of scuffing in a prime focal area, and the reverse has some contact marks.
    I like peace dollars too!

I've seen PCGS MS67 coins with notable reeding marks, so you may be weighting them more than our host does.

Hi, I (have been told) that I'm not a grader, so I won't, but I like your Peace Dollar. I like the Obverse better than the Reverse.

Liberty hair is flowing and look great. The reverse ha those pits between the U and the R that make me focus there, but all in all should grade well. Good luck, Joe

    @Joe_360
You don't need to be a grader to take a guess. ;)
A guess the grade (GTG) is exactly that a guess.
The coin is graded already, I am just trying to decide if I should have it regraded.
I will reveal the grade in a bit.

    Guess? Ok. MS62.

  • Joe_360Joe_360 Posts: 1,592 ✭✭✭✭✭

GTG, MS64, but may have kame in at 63..

I think their hard on the 27s. I’m going with 63. I think the coin doubles in value in a 64. And then doubles in 65 again. I sent one in a few years ago it came back a grade lower than I thought. It came Back in a 63 holder. I would peg yours at 64
    By the pics

Thanks for all the responses! :)

    Any last minute guesses?

    Grade reveal coming soon. :)

The AU 50 you posted doesn't even closely compare with the OP's coin.
I urge you to take a closer look and compare the high points on the two coins.

I think this shows we have some very good eyes here on the board. :)

I think the coin is solid at a 63 with a shot at a 64 on a good day.
A quick dip or a little MS70 might give it a better shot.
The reverse has a few too many hits.

    Yep, same here. :D
Think I'm gonna save the money and keep it as is. ;)

Damn, missed the party ... as soon as I looked though I thought 63, worst case 62 at PCGS

I was late as well but I think it's closer to a 64.

Late again... but 63 was my guess when opening the thread....Cheers, RickO

I am glad that I do not pursue Peace dollars because those pits on the reverse really threw me off.
I tried to compare it to PCGS's photo grades but I was way off. Fun of the game. :)

The money side is usually given the preference and this coin is lucky to have a better money side.
I stick with my assessment above :)

I like it at 63. The reedmarks on the reverse and the abrasions on the cheek might be grade limiting. Luster might be a bit subdued for a 64, but this is devilishly hard to judge in a photo.

    Missed out.
    Nice coin!

MS63 was my gut, it looks graded well... Nice pick!
