The Mayan's were correct. The end of the 23,000 year percession cycle brings a "New" beginning. During the new cycle, things can be a wonky for a while before everything settles down. The China thing is a whole other level.

The good news is that our first grandchild was born in June.
    In Canada.
The bad news is that we cannot get into the country to see him.

2020 was right up there with the worst... at a personal level I had emergency surgery in July to correct a perforated colon which left me with an ostomy for about 4 months. I had a second round of major surgery just before Thanksgiving to reverse the ostomy. My recovery occurred against the backdrop of a divorce and a pandemic. I was going to say it couldn't suck any harder, but I don't want to tempt fate! Oh, and I didn't buy any coins in 2020 either... ;-)

A first grandbaby is a something that changed me much more than I thought it would. I joined that club a couple years ago.
@CaptHenway, I hope you get up there soon. Holding them is a hoot!

I am hoping for the best but life has no guarantees. Those who were coming off WWI in 1917 probably thought the coast was clear and that life would only get better.

I have to temper my criticism of 2020, I guess.

I didn't lose anyone close to me and I was employed all year long and got to work from home.

I guess things could have been a lot worse for me personally.

Let's hope 2021 continues that streak and things improve from there.

The one good 2020 thing personally was finally getting a much needed new hip after years of 24/7/365 pain. Was trying to hold out to do it when I hit 50 but it was long beyond time and I got the first elective surgery spot once the hospitals opened back up for those type of things here. Been asking for it for ~4 solid years but coulda/shoulda had it done about 13 years ago.

I can't complain about 2020 when I listen to problems faced by relations, and friends here and also friends I'm always in touch with around the country.
Staying healthy was the most important thing and so far so good for me and mine.
All of my 2020 performances were canceled early on so I had to pivot and learn how to do live streaming events. A growth opportunity.
Since most of my coin collecting happens at coin shows, 2020 saw a big dip in that department.
Online coin club meetings took up a bit of slack so that a was another good thing to come out of 2020.
My heart goes out to all those in the medical profession.
You folks must be so friggin' over 2020.
    Happy New Year!

Yeah, got the first dose of the Pfizer one a couple weeks ago. Second dose is next week. No symptoms, mild soreness for a day. Basically like a flu shot. No issues.

    Good to know.

Is it recommended to get this and the flu shot?

With all the Shelter in Place, I haven't gotten the flu shot this season yet.

Wow! Really Wow. Are you still sane? I don't know if the average person understands what a drag an ostomy is. So glad they were able to put you back together. That much surgery will knock you backwards for many months. Going through that at the same time as a divorce is an immense tragedy. Nowhere to go but up, right? Hang in there!

Yeah, nothing about the COVID disease or COVID vaccination affects regular flu. The recommendations for them are independent of each other. I'm not sure you can or should do both at the same time. My guess is no, but that's not really my area.

I am a big Borat fan and was very disappointed with the movie. With few exceptions, it just wasn't funny.

2020 is welcome to be viewed in the rear mirror! It was brutal and at times, nightmarish.
There is some real promise looking forward with vaccines!
Though thankfully, I haven’t lost any loved one’s to the virus, I have witnessed its ravages first hand and up close in my front line work.
It’s been nuts on several levels I need not get into here.
Thankfully though, so far, we are safe and slightly insane ;-)

Vaccinated 16 days ago, awaiting scheduling for dose #2 in a few days.

Mild arm soreness the next day (similar to prior flu shots) offset by increased hope, relief, and thanks to science for getting this accomplished so fast. That the logistics haven't worked out well is a shame.

I did not get any acting gigs in 2020, but that is not surprising considering I'm not an actor.
