While on the whole, 2020 was a horrible year, what I will remember is 365 days in a row with my beautiful wife and the birth of my little girl who I’ve been able to see for the entirety of her life vs my previous travel ladden schedule. Silver linings in a sh*t storm.

I got a survey from amazon today where one question made me gag. I cannot post it here or the thread will get poofed. Fits right in with Mark's photos.

Tough year. Lost my Mom and pretty much all of her generation in my family.
But my kids are happy and healthy and are on their way to their place in this world, so that is good.I got a text from our friend AspieRocco this morning. He is good and healthy and thinks that all of you are a bunch whiney bastards. (he actually didn't say that, but that is what I implied).
Rocco is a wise man.

2020 was a rotten year in almost every way imaginable.
On the coin roll searching front it was a bust. It ended in a fitting way when a friend was able to wrestle a couple rolls of new quarters (zilch in the 1 roll I opened) and 3 rolls of new nickels.
The one roll of nickels I opened was solid 2020Ps, but they were consistently the ugliest and dirtiest new nickels I have ever seen.
Good riddance 2020.

While 2020 as a whole sucked, there were two things that made me happy during the past year.
First, my eldest and her significant other, who lived in an apartment in The City (roughly a one hour drive from my place), were going bonkers after about a week of lockdown. They asked if they could come stay with me and I said sure.
I have a separate cottage on my property that they stayed in, so that they had their own privacy, and they also had free rein of the main house. They stayed with me for about 3 months. It was nice for me to be with my eldest daughter and to get to know her significant other over a relatively long time span (as opposed to the normal meet for a meal or a day). In addition, since late 2018, they had been looking for a place to buy in SF, and had put in various bids on various places, none of which hit. They continued to look at, and bid on, houses relatively near me, and in June they closed on a house that is only about a 20 minute drive from me. So it's Great to have them living nearby.
On a secondary note, 2020 was a good year for space exploration, and I'm happy that the USA, courtesy of SpaceX, again has manned spaceflight capability.

Professionally, one of my best years ever. Family-wise it was an outstanding year. Fun-wise, it sucked. Collecting-wise, it was pretty amazing.
One thing that being in the medical field has taught me is that if you ever happen to have a good day, just really enjoy it. They won’t all be good. Even so, from difficulty, opportunity arises. If we come out of this COVID thing with a bit more kindness to each other and an appreciation for truly important things, some good will have come of it.

The best part of this year is that since there's no school the little Hydrants have been staying here on the ranch and getting lots of fresh air and outside playtime. The worst part (one of) was my getting tagged by that rattlesnake. Well, I came close boys and girls. My life was saved by the quick action of my beautiful daughter-in-law Monica, and by the California Poison Control team out of San Diego. Those guys drove 100 miles in record time to bring the antidote to me. Just in time. God bless them. I know people gripe and complain about 2020 and I understand. But hey, it's not really so bad........Keep on the Sunny Side. Always on the Sunny Side. Keep on the Sunny Side of Life. It will help us in every way, it will brighten up our day, if we keep on the Sunny Side of Life. HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!

My 2020 experience mirrors yours professionally yet I have some guilt about it.
The worst part for me is I'm thousands of miles away from my family and I miss them. We have all taken this virus seriously and have hunkered down. Thanksgiving and Christmas were tough as we all were separated from each other. First time ever. The upside was my wife and I have become even closer. She's the best.
