How many Numismatic items did you purchase in 2020?

goldengolden Posts: 10,459 ✭✭✭✭✭

In 2020 I purchased 6 U.S. coins including 3 gold coins, 2 National Bank notes from my home state and 3 numismatic books. That is less than in 2019. How many items did you purchase?

Lol. I am known here to NOT be the high spender type on coins (once in a great while) . However, I am known to purchase many, many small priced coins, including silver. Also, I do frequently buy some coin related items too. So by you asking "how many" items? Too, too many to count. Lol. If I was to place an actual number on it. I would guess approximately, 100 - 200 numismatic items. To me, quantity is more enjoyable than only a few items at a high price. Just my opinion. Thanks. :)

Not enough. Like joeykoins I don't play in the deep end, but play alot in the shallow end. Best guess, 200 to 250 PCGS slabbed, as well as Mint, Proof & Silver Proof sets to keep my Danscos up to date.

No earthly idea when you factor in the raw stuff. I’ll guess around 150 total coins raw and slabbed. I’ve also sold about $200 or more face of silver.

A check of my records indicate that I made 54 coin related purchases in 2020.

A large portion of my acquisitions were "junk" silver and common date silver dollars (both certified and raw).

Just 3 things pretty much. All modern. A Canadian twoonie commemorating artist Bill Reid, one in a set that's a bit higher quality, and a roll for spending once I'm allowed to visit home again (whenever that is). A French V-Shaped coin commemorating the end of WWII that I thought was kind of neat. And the new arrival that came last week, the David Bowie coin, part of the Royal Mint's music legends program.

Currently have 22 moderns being graded that will hopefully convert to some more.

I finally completed my 12-Piece Gold Set. I added the Type II $1 in 2019, and in 2020 I added the elusive $3 gold piece. Here is the PCGS Registry set album (the $2.5s are graded by NGC):

Not as many as I would have liked.
I buy mostly at coin shows anymore. For expensive coins I like to see them in hand so I can avoid being disappointed.
This year I probably acquired 2 dozen numismatic items; all inexpensive U.S., World and silver bullion.
