finally found a bust quarter for my type set

Hey folks, as those of you who caught my recent Bust Dime thread know, I've been working on the 41 coin Basic U.S. Coin Design Registry Set for a little over a year now, which calls for an early quarter (pre-1839). It has been tough going finding a nice one at a reasonable cost as the vast majority of these circulated heavily in commerce. Happy to say I finally jumped on this one which immediately caught my eye.

What do you all think of this example? Would love to hear if you like it, but I'm also very open to feedback on things I may have missed or overlooked on this example, as I am always trying to improve my eye. I noticed the shield outline on the reverse is weak, but that seems common based on CoinFacts examples. What else? I excluded posting the grade to encourage discussion, but I'll follow up with it. Thanks for taking a look.

    Very nice example.
    Most likely secondary toning over an old light cleaning, but overall very good eye appeal on a series not often found attractive IMO.
    I’ll guess AU53?

    If forum member spacehayduke ever breaks up his set, it will free up a number of outstanding examples for the rest of us lol!

    Always loved the eagle but never was too fond of Liberty. Yet, this is a beautifully toned specimen in my opinion. Unfortunate for the facial scratch, but not detracting enough to be bothersome. Congratulations, nice pick up.

    Yes, I think that's likely — I'd assume it'd be much more crusty if it were completely original.

    That is a nice coin. Quality Bust quarters are tough to find. Especially the early dates. Many years ago I traded a large chunk of my collection for one. At the time I had misgivings but I did it anyway. Turned out o.k. It's a beautiful coin and over time I've come out ahead money wise if I were to sell it. Doubt if I ever will though.

    No, it's in a safe deposit box. I've tried to learn how to upload photos onto the forum. No luck. My wonderful daughter-in- law has informed me that I don't have the right computer set-up to do it. In fact I don't have a computer. Just a tablet.

    It really is the centerpiece of my collection. I didn't actually trade for it specifically. I presented my stash to a very wonderful dealer and mentor who has since passed. Mr Bob Patchin. He took my coins and told me he would do the best he could and told me to come back a few days later. I took what I got. Mr. Patchin did good by me. He was special. His wife is still at the Coin Gallery in Orange, California. Lovely woman.

    While I would hesitate to call this original, it has what I consider an attractive secondary toning. which also exhibits some depth, which would suggest its current state of preservation has been this way for many moons.

    I like the color, especially on the obverse, and while the "mustache" is distracting due to it's focal location, overall the lack of marks elsewhere is noticeable. The strike for this issue (marriage B-1) is solid. The weakness, as it were, appears to these eyes as honest wear.

    As for the grade? AU50 (shot 53) is my guess. Not enough luster to account for better.

    I love the coin! Very attractive toning and the scratch would not bother me. I’m guessing mid AU range.

    For those following along, she’s in a PCGS AU50 slab. @pursuitofliberty really hit it right on the nose with both the correct guess and supporting reasoning
