Not a bad looking group. OGH, Gold, CC, Double Eagle, that group has a lot going for it.

Which one is your favorite @steveben ? I love the 89cc and the 93cc but can’t decide between them. Great looking bunch. Congrats!

The 76-CC and 77-CC look undergraded.

that's hard to say. i can say that my favorite in the box so far is an 1850 that was sold to me by @RYK . i have posted it here a couple times before.

the 89cc has a really nice violet toning that is hard for me to capture with a photo. the luster on the reverse is amazing.

the 75cc is a lock for the most under-graded coin in the group.

    my grades are:

93cc - 35 very pq ... really like this coin
89cc - 45 (lustrous, toned coin, hard to see in photo)
    77cc - 40/45 super crusty reverse
    76cc - 40 solid
75cc - 55 (ample cartwheel luster on both sides)

i was told these came from the same owner who had them slabbed and none have been to cac. not sure how they will do at cac, but i got the ryk seal of approval...so that's good enough for me, since his collection was my inspiration. i will send them to cac eventually.

Those are beautiful and looked very under-graded.

@steveben .... Very impressive.... That 77-CC is really nice...They all are. I have not attempted the gold CC series... I did the Morgans and stopped there. Cheers, RickO

@steveben I really like you group of CC double eagles in OGHs. It is hard to choose the one that I like best, but I would lean toward the ’77-CC. It is a date that I rarely see with original and attractive surfaces.

Regarding the ’76-CC, that coin was from a large group of double eagles of the same date/mint that were submitted at the same time. I have an example from that group that was graded XF45, which I thought had a good chance at a gold CAC sticker, but only received a green, see below. Over the years, I have seen two CAC Gold ’76-CCs in OGHs which were from that group (ie, had very close certification numbers).

    Congratulations on the nice coins.

About 20 years ago I bought a very tough date; an 1861-O $20 PCGS VF35 from Sunshine Rarities. I cracked it out and got it regraded at NGC if I remember right and it graded XF40! Since then those have gone up a lot in value. And that old holder coin had a slight scratch so would not have gotten a cac sticker.
