I am thinking it is an incredible specimen, something to be proud of in all respects. MS66

There looks to be some weakness in strike at the left loop of the bow as well as some in the upper leaves on the left of "HALF." I'd call it MS66+, but would not be surprised by a MS67 grade. The surfaces are very clean and the coin is very attractive. Luster is tough to assess from a True View, but it also looks to have ample luster.

When I see Trueviews of deep blue I always think that the coin is in fact quite dark in hand. Are the Tueviews, true to life?

That is an exceptionally well preserved specimen... Must have come out of a long term collection. Has to be around a 67... Cheers, RickO

A very nice looking half dime. The toning pattern is eye-appealing.

    Beautiful coin.
I can also tell you it's the finest example of the 1838 V-6 die marriage that I've seen (excluding proofs).
The V-6 is identified by the repunched star 3 and file marks left of stars 2-6, along with no reverse cracks.

Thanks for the great info, I had wondered about those file marks.

That was something I was also concerned about. In hand it is a bit darker than the trueview, but not by much.

    It's official. I'm jealous.

The detail around the rims is amazing. It's hammered!

It's part of a type set, I have been looking for a solid half dime for many months now. It's a little on the spendy side for me, but I was able to pick it up for a great price.
