I heard that it's "boring" around here... I filled the 20c slot in my Type Set. Update: Variety MPD

Super clean fields. Very decent strike. Blast white luster. Common date, but great condition. I've seen so many of these worn and without eye appeal. I'm very happy to have added this to my ongoing Type Set. Thanks, comments are welcome!

Nice looking coin! I like it a lot. I bet the luster roles pretty good on that one.

That coin is not boring at all. Scores like yours don't happen very often and when
they do , they are rarely shared. Thank you.

    Superb! MS66?
I am torn, do we call this a 20 cent piece, or a double dime, or a fifth?

    That is a stellar piece👍
It’s not boring around here at all. Not sure who is saying that but it’s definitely not true.

Nice coin! Very sharp! Thanks for sharing it. We don't see enough of these on the boards in my opinion.

But I think the correct forum term for "Blast white luster" is "Ricko approved" ;)

Did you get it on 10-10-2020? I had a passing thought that that would be the day for "double dimes".

Thanks for all the great comments! Let me add that I'm pretty darn sure that it's the Misplaced Date (MPD) Variety FS-301 (Bruner-Frost BF-11). There is an artifact of a mis-punched "8" within the denticles below the proper 8. Appears to be only 3 finer (1 ugly at NGC and 2 at PCGS of which one is dog ugly).

My example is graded PCGS MS 64+.

    Enlarged photos of the MPD.

Thanks for sharing your excellent photos.
I believe your coin is BF-14, based on:

    • the die crack through the base of the date
    • shape of the MPD below the 8 (it is a straight line, rather than having the left part curved down)
    • die crack from toe to star 13 (not noted on the BF-14 page, but I think I see it in the plate photo)
    • the mint mark shape / position

@yosclimber Yep that looks like the one. Die cracks, straight line on the MPD 8, all looks correct for the BF-14. Awesome website also! Thank you!
