Was successful on only 1 of the 5 I was bidding on - prices seemed strong.
Bought this one, struck over a 1838-O dime, ex Eric Newman.

Gone but not forgotten: IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal, CoinsAreFun.

Way beyond my CWT pay grade. I like CWTs that reflect history. Ultra rarity does nothing for me, sorry.
didn't win anything. just wanted to say, NICE NEWP! love those over/under types.
Well, Bill - it has nothing to do with "ultra rarity" - just trying to do as long an under date type run as possible. It can never be completed, but I don't really care.
Love it and appreciate collecting the impossible

Very nice acquisition.... I enlarged the image to study... and can pick up the details.... Cool coin...Cheers, RickO
I was lucky enough to pick up a few from the Tampa Collection. I recognized a few pieces from Michael Parkoff's collection and was able to pick up the following. I'm a big fan of the Mulligan token with the stopwatch and appreciated picking up his other token.
Hugh Mulligan Bust Merchant Token - Silver - Fuld-750O-2f
Interestingly Michael gives the following description with a nice provenance list while Stack's only mentions Kaplan, QDB (and Tampa).
There are just 2 of these in the NGC and PCGS pops:
I was fortunate enough to win one. I do not have a serious collection of CWTs but I like to acquire a patriotic token every so often. I liked this token primarily for its provenance: Tampa Collection; George Fuld; QDB. It is graded MS64.
Nice token Mark! I'm a big fan of tokens with edges like this as it indicates how tokens were made back then, without collars.
Michael indicates that token is from George Fuld's personal collection in his notes.
@Zoins Thanks for the information re Fudd's personal collection. That enriches the token for me! And, I agree that I also was taken by the edges. I did it know that CWTs were struck without collars. I'll take a close at the coin when it arrives.
I’m hoping round 2 of Tampa includes a few from Michigan

Very nice!! I bid on some but came up empty. Have always enjoyed struck over Dimes. Civil War tokens are the best!

CWT1863:
Already have a CWT over a 1854 dime - was really interested in the 1853 and 1838 dimes - also bid on the 1859 IHC as the under type was so strong. Rare opportunity for some really cool overstrikes.
