Pick a coin you would like to see restruck in gold..

My pick? I always really liked the trade routes Sacajawea dollar. (I realize this point is kind of moot because it’s already at least gold colored but I digress)

The 1794 Silver Dollar.
2020 Barber half dollar!
Dave
MCM advertises a 1/2 ounce gold “1794 Dollar” authorized by the Smithsonian, but no price listed.
Morgan Dollar and Peace Dollar with the dates "1921-2021". It would be a continuation of the "1916-2016" Centennial Mercury Dime, SLQ, and WLH struck in gold.

What @PerryHall said.
1907 C Ultra High Relief $20. Struck in Charlotte with genuine Carolina gold. There’s still gold mined in the Carolinas but not in large quantities, of course. But that’s my fantasy piece.
For items not originally struck in gold...
1903 Philippine US Peso which would look great in gold and also a 1793 strawberry leaf cent.
I would like to see the Peace dollar struck in high relief gold... same size as well....Cheers, RickO
Maybe the v nickel might be nice fwiw at this time
The "School Girl" pattern.
As stated above, Morgan, Peace, and barber half. If mint did it right, id put these immediately after food and shelter in my life priorities.

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
I saw an article once about an Indian Cent struck on a gold planchet.

A 1950 DCAM Proof Franklin Half dollar.
Seated Liberty Dollar.
I think a proof Braided Hair cent would be pretty cool. I don’t really like restrikes unless leftover dies are used though.

Half disme would be interesting.
Walking Liberty half in the one oz size, best eagle design ever on a coin. This is what the new ASE's should look like.

Those already exist

Just to prove that even gold has its limits.
I concur with you statement on that eagle. But I'd be in favor of the high relief Peace dollar. I think a Flying Eagle cent would be neat, too.
I meant in the one oz. size, clarified my post.

These exist, as private fantasy-date over-strikes on American Silver Eagles:

I did produce one of these ("1927-D" Oregon Trail struck on a trimmed 1927 Saint-Gaudens gold $20 Double Eagle):

With everything going on now the Continental dollar has more meaning to me than ever.

A high relief peace dollar would be great too, engraved to the sharpness of a Morgan dollar.

High Relief 1907 Saint.
I would be happy enough if the American gold eagle bullion coin used the the original liberty instead of the cartoon-ish thin version with the egg shaped head (+ hair floating on top) ...
He who knows he has enough is rich.
1815 Capped Bust half.
a set of 3 for the Semiquincentennial or Bicenquinquagenary coming in 2026
I'd like to see one of those big octagonal shaped $50 gold slugs from the gold rush era restruck in gold.

Would like to own this SAC in gold (reverse proof, matte proof, and DCAM proof)
In addition to my earlier suggestions.... 1979 small dollar with Gasparro’s Liberty that was not used.
$4 Stella
That would be a nice choice. But.....from all the depictions that I have seen of that coin, I do not think it was Gasparro at his best. The theme is terrific. The execution of the design not so much. Either way, good choice.
Some of it was the size of the coin but if it had been selected I’m sure he would have refined it a few more times. It still wouldn’t have circulated but it may not have been accused of scaring young children, either...
Already been done in 2009.
Can you elaborate?
Is this still considered a privately minted European medal?
Actually, in 2009, it was an Ultra High Relief so slightly different.
3 cent silver LOL.
The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
For me, none of them.
I did buy a 2014 JFK gold half dollar because the coin brought back fond memories of my youth. Beyond, that won't be buying any of the gold "off-metals" if they are offered. > @Zoins said:
Yes, it was a re-make of the double thick fantasy piece the mint made in 1907. It was an experiment to see if they could bring up the high relief detail with one blow. The coins were not legal because it would have taken an Act of Congress have the diameter of the $20 gold reduced to the size of the $10 gold and then made double the thickness to bring it up to weight.
I had a chance to see the two existing examples which were on display at the Smithsonian. The 2009 piece was very good copy of those coins, which might be expected since the mint was able to use the real thing for their computer – laser created copies.
For those who are unfamilar, here is the coin the mint issued in 2009.
And here are the out of focus shots I took through that glass at the Smithsonian of the real thing.
I was excited by the 2009 UHR until I realized it wasn’t going to be 90% gold and the finish wasn’t going to be more satiny. I wanted a full recreation of the look of the original.
Anyway, another thing for gold treatment... the silver American Eagle in gold might be very interesting.
The original didn't have In God We Trust while the 2009 UHR did have this motto so the designs are actually different.

They could have put the motto on the edge to retain the original design as well.
it has been said before already, i'm going to go with $1 sacagawea series. i would collect a whole set, especially in reverse proof!
If they did that then where would they put E PLURIBUS UNUM?
