A really long time away ...

I see some very familiar names ... and I'm glad this place didn't disappear.
I did. Something broke inside me for a while, and in the end I was gone for 7 years. And a few months. Those who might remember me might also remember what happened. It was a very painful time ... and then it wasn't ... it was past. Some other things also disappeared later due to a family member with a problem. I didn't see that one coming either. Different kinds of pain.
It became a very long break. I had had long dormant times before. It didn't phase me much. Looking back though, it was a long break.
The books had went to storage. After the second situation the collection that didn't disappear went somewhere else, where it is safe and can't be found.
In between all this I decided to buy an FJ Cruiser and built it into a purposeful off-road machine, picked up a couple kayaks ... and fished and paddled and hiked ... and continued on with life.
Then the Eskimo came. A call from an old friend who wanted some advice on a collection. We looked through things. It sparked memories. I tried to help.
Two weeks later I found a very attractive ChAU Jefferson War nickel in change ... wow ... just sitting atop the dryer.
And so the pull began again ... as it does.
That was a couple months back, right before the world changed.
I took a visit and looked at some of those very old "friends" that where in hiding. I brought home a couple books. I'm still working but without much else in this strange time, I started to read more and those books started to roll through the ones that would get picked up. I visited sites again. Watched and studied and thought.
And eventually, as these things tend to go ... something new showed up.
I never bought another camera setup, but I cropped the sellers pictures so I could share.
To all of you who remember me ... I hope you find the time to say Hi.
To those that don't, well ... I'm kind of crazy ... in work and play and probably most other things I do ... most especially in my pursuit of liberty.

Don’t know you in the slightest but have to say I like your style of writing. It pulls you forward and has a poetic feel.
Thanks for the welcome back ... a few names I don't know and some I do.
Mizzou, if you know the Central Valley in CA, there really isn't that much difference!
Of course, it's going on 30 years now, so I must have been really bad!!
Thanks Batman. Yeah ... it's a nice one. Better in hand, but pictures can be tough. I might have to put together a small setup again and see if I can capture her better side.

Welcome back
Superb history of where you have been and what you have done. Just enough to make us wonder how much fun it would have been . . . .spaced between the heartache.
Bravo . . . . good to see your name again. Same old place. Same old positives and negatives.
Dwell with us on the positives . . .

Welcome back. I joined in 2017 so we have not online chatted. Everyone goes through their rough spots in life. Right now I'm going through a major bout of depression. This hobby is the one thing that helps me get through it. I hope you continue to rekindle those feelings you once had in this hobby.
I'm still here and glad you are back!

Welcome back. This is the whole point of a hobby. It is an escape, it is a joy and it is a passion. Life happened but clearly the passion never went away.
pursuitofliberty,
To satisfy the intrigue, and keep the thread on track, didn't your leaving coincide with having your coins stolen? I might be off base.
Welcome back. Not the same forum you remember. Lot's of old timers lurking however.

Welcome back. Nice to meet you. Very nice quarter! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you all
Good to see old friends here ... and some friendly new faces too. Amazing that seven years has passed when I think about it ... but so nice to see this community is still here.
Yes, Nic, good memory. It was kind of ugly ... about half or more of the collection, a half dozen guitars ... a lot of stuff that could never be replaced. I was gone a few days and came back to a gutted house. We'll leave that in the past though.

Glad to see you back.
Life throws curve balls at you all the time.
Kinda like the game of golf. The hardest shot to hit is a straight shot so always try to
play a draw OR a cut and you will be amazed at how many you hit straight.
Love your username. I hope you decide to stay. I can tell already I like you.

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Welcome back! That's a nice quarter, you should collect those, bust halves are ugly and no one should collect them.
At least none of the ones I still need.
Welcome back, Todd. Hope you rekindle old friendships and enjoy the hobby again.
