Late Night GTG, Double Dime Style. **Update, ANACS grade revealed, PCGS grade revealed**

Just got off work. Thoughts to the PCGS grade and ANACS photo certificate grade of this crusty 20 center . The range should be interesting.
Hint, I have the coin in hand and agree with the PCGS grade.
Need a Barber Half with ANACS photo certificate. If you have one for sale please PM me. Current Ebay auctions

Great looking coin. 35 maybe?
EDIT: The coin seems to have the luster of a 45, so I'll compromise on 40.
I'll guess high 35 low 40. I like the color.

I agree on the 35 to 40 grade.

I see some luster? I'm going XF45.

I'm going to guess that the old ANACs grade was LOWER than the PCGS grade, and that the PCGS grade is XF40.
I believe standards have loosened up quite a bit on these over the years.

ANACS photo certificate grade = VF-30
PCGS grade = EF-45
My grade = EF-40
What a nice double dime!
During the photo certificate years, ANACS grading seemed to focus quite heavily on LIBERTY as the key indicator and ignored that often, LIBERTY is weak on double dimes (especially from the Carson City Mint).

It wasn’t just ANACS.
I bought this one as a VF20 back in the late ‘80’s for my 7070 (hope the OP doesn’t mind my posting this):

Update in OP.
Really nice looking Twenty-center! XF45 seems right to me...I have been wrong before.
My post never made it, but I am sticking with what I responded above.
I see the ANACS certificate in the OP...what did our host say?

PCGS grade revealed in OP
I'd have guessed XF45, knowing it might be a technical XF40 with luster. So pleasing a coin that it deserves a bump from whatever technical grade it might be. I can buy the PCGS AU50 if the luster is significant.
The best ANACs paper "upgrade" I've seen was on a capped bust $5 gold piece. 1812 or 1813 iirc. Was graded VF with planchet flaw in the 1980's. Re-graded at PCGS around 10-15 yrs ago as PCGS MS62. Full luster coin with eye appeal....and a ripple along the cheek. Fabulous looking coin...and correctly graded as 62. Would have grade 63 or better w/o the flaw. But a VF back in the 1980s????
