  For those that ask, just take a look at how mushy the lettering and such is on this example. Dentils, especially on the obverse from 2 to 9. Just lacking everything!

  A piece of junk, but sadly this garbage is getting to be all too common.

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

  I reported them and contacted the seller. He claimed he bought them from a coin shop and that they are the correct weight. Long story, short - I told him they’re still counterfeit.

  Seller sent me a message through ebay's system with contact info. I called him and he offered to sell outside ebay. I contacted ebay about the fraudulent counterfeit sales and offering to sell outside ebay. It will be interesting to see if they take any action against this seller.

  I got the same story about them being purchased from a coin store. He claims to have years of knowledge about coins.

  Edited to add: $2488 was the total of the items I won but did not win all listings.

  Thanks Bob. I thought the surface texture looked OK, devices looked pretty sharp, but something about it that I couldn't put my finger on.

  Egad, this has me nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of Morgan rocking chairs! For the less practiced eyes out there, how are we supposed to spot these?? I didn't see anything wrong and I think I've placed bids on some of that sellers coins...I guess I'm lucky not to have won any...yikes.
