It was at an auction overseas advertised as Large bead 1966 dollar. they even had a close up image.
Nobody apparently recognized it as being small beads. Got it well under large beads pricing for its grade. Everyone simply trusted the TPG slab.(not our host). The key is the obverse beads being the small beads. The RCM used a 1965 small beads obverse for a couple hundred by mistake. When discovered, they were supposed to be shipped to Ottawa for re-processing (melting) but someone at the mint "mistakenly" sent these to a bank branch.
Although I must say, unless one does know the difference, or has had or seen a small beads before, it is easy to miss.
But, if you have seen it before, it just takes one close look to recognize it. I had one some years ago but sold it.
It is outside my collection interest and I will probably sell this one also.
But, I will have it RE-attributed, probably by a Canadian TPG as it is very cumbersome to get our host to grade it because of all that customs stuff involved to ship and get back (Canada).
Note: STACKS has one in their upcoming auction. will be interesting to see.

How 'bout a couple tokens? Apart from the enigmatic countermark, I have found references to the MITAD on the right. Does anyone recognize the one on the left? Do the large "8" reverse and the 1 over 8 monograms indicate it is worth ⅛ real like the mitad? Any suggestions welcome.
The current plan is just the 15 coin Pillar/Portrait Real/Escudo denomination subset of your Coins Circulating in Early America composite, though at the moment I just have 3 silver coins including your old 1739 Real. Once I get closer to completion, I might branch out a little more.
A Long Beach purchase. This is an authentic Costa Rica “Carrillo Countermark” with the official hole unofficially plugged later, most probably so that it would pass elsewhere. I suppose it’s damaged goods to most of us, but it fits nicely in my collection.

I haven’t posted to this thread in a while, but I finally had some oldies graded.
2 Maravedies of Carlos y Juana from Mexico. Very rare coin. Undated but about 1540s (non-Gothic punches).
Despite what our hosts decided to grade it, many believe this coin is essentially “as-struck”.
I only had it graded because I want my better coins in holders.

The thing at 12:00 over the pillar is a planchet defect.
