I'm Feeling lucky! Unstruck 90% silver dollar

Hello everyone, I hope all is well, I believe I have found a 90% silver dollar that has its time upset ,but never got struck. Can anyone tell me anything about this coin? Thank you kindly.

How’d you verify Ag and %?
If it is Ag, then it might be just an unstruck Ag round from a commercial PM mint. I don’t see the US Mint losing PM.
That does not look like any (denomination) genuine US blank or planchet.
Weight and dimensions would help...Plus, how have you verified silver and percentage?? Cheers, RickO
Dang, I want to know more about that Kennedy half dollar!
peacockcoins
@braddick are you referring to the half in my profile pic?
~Babygirl
@ricko In inches the diameter is 1 and 3/8 and the width is 1/8th of an inch, in will have the weight in about 30 minutes when I get home. It definitely has that pretty silver ring when you flip it in the air
~Babygirl
He means the one in the 2x2 in your initial photo.
If it weighs exactly one troy ounce then I assume it is a private bullion planchet.
Pretty neat, if it's genuine !!!
where did you get it?
The Kennedy half came from the same place as the one in this thread.
~Babygirl
it looks like a slug to me, fwiw
That is not the size of a U.S. silver dollar.> @johnny9434 said:
I agree. Not the right size for a dollar. Since we haven't gotten a weight, I'm guessing the weight is all wrong.
I totally agree
Please tell us you aren't paying for these things. That Kennedy in the (improvised?)2x2 is damaged, and that slug.. who knows.

What is your profile picture supposed to be?
If you are getting these from the same source they are taking you for a ride.

I think the profile pic is a picture of OPs reflection in whatever that round thing is.
What is the weight supposed to be and the size of a silver dollar , i have paid nothing out of pocket for it and does the mint make slugs or whatever your calling it. I know for a fact that these came from the mint.

These planchets both the half dollar and the silver dollar are not damaged , here is a link explaining the marks on them

@FredWineberg can you tell me the specs and weight of this silver dollar you have listed , it sure looks identical to the one I have, I would like to know what you based your opinion from about it not looking Like any denomination, it is the exact size of a silver dollar being 36.5 mm by 2mm I plan to buy a scale to weigh it this weekend I apologise for not having all of the info, my scale is not working properly . Will post it soon thank you all for chiming in.
~Babygirl
Does not look the same.
No one is going to buy round piece of metal that you think weighs ?, is made of ?, and it’s intended purpose is ?.
Therefore to alleviate the concerns of any potential buyers you should send it to TPGS for authentication.
You also stated you know for a fact it came from the US Mint? Which one. Let us know and/or PM me the name of your Mint supervisor and/or contact at the Mint. I (and OIG) want to get in on this.

FWIW. My comments are an opinion on a public forum.
Then why are you asking us to tell you about the 'planchet' if you already have the factual knowledge they came from 'the mint?'
If you already know for a fact they come from 'the mint' then there is no reason to 'feel lucky' as luck would have nothing to do with it.
After you weigh the 'planchet' be sure to measure its specific gravity (search youtube for videos).
Oh never mind ... dang it ... got sucked into another one of these threads ... LOL

The Mint does not make "slugs". The MInt also doesn't sell unstruck silver dollars. So, I know for a fact that this didn't come directly from the Mint.
Now, could it have gotten released into the wild from the Mint? Yes. But once in the wild, it also gets mixed with all the slugs, fakes, etc. on the market.
So, it really is simple:
The edges of that slug look ground down not rolled up as the genuine one in the picture from Fred's site.
Perspective can lie, but a silver dollar is much larger than a half dollar and your slug looks only slightly larger than the half dollar in the photo. But perspective aside, you originally quoted the size as 1-3/8 inches and now you are saying it is 1-1/2 inches? You can easily find the specs online for size and weight.
Except the tumbler marks aren't what we are referring to. Why is the half dollar blank in your profile photo POLISHED? Why are the edges of the dollar blank (on the top surface) ground down? Those aren't tumbler marks.
And I think the damage he was referring to was the bent half dollar next to the "unstruck silver dollar" not your profile picture.
I missed that. Is that the next "what kind of error is this" thread?
Sometimes I feel like taking a hammer to all my pocket change and then releasing into the wild to create new error collectors.
You can find the info on Silver Dollar planchets in the Red Book (Guide Book of US Coins)
I assure you your piece is not from any US Mint.
It's either a private issue, or a slug.
Fairly sure it’s already happening...
I'm just confused.

I think it's the same person. Notice that Mooch got banned January 22nd and Babylove joined on January 23rd.
Hey, look at this! I think this might be the same silver $ with the corrosion removed.

It doesn't look like the one I had come in once. There is a difference in the planchets for older silver dollars and newer comm issues. Fred probably knows how to tell the difference, but I sent mine to PCGS to get the older attribution when I sold it.
These “de ja vu” moments are great when it’s on the internet. We can always try to look it up.
In real life not so much... just that nagging feeling.
