1796 Likerty half dime...OOOPS, he forgot to mention........

eBay listing for 1796 Likerty half dime. He forgot to mention that he bought this coin a few months ago, yet he found it in his 200 year old pottery barn safe and the coin was PLUGGED and that he cracked it out of a PCGS holder and than he ARTIFICIALLY TONED the coin to try to hide the plug.

    It would also appear that he has either doctored the photo, the coin or both to make the surfaces uniformly rough to hide the plug at 12k. In a magnified view of the Heritage obverse photo, the repair area is quite obvious on the obverse. The rest of the surfaces is smooth. Now it’s less pronounced, because the whole coin looks a bit porous.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible.     seller buys problem coin in slab stating problem, cracks out coin and colors, takes deceptive photo hiding flaws, sells raw and calls it BU
