Finally a use for all of the junk foreign coins I acquired as a child and never had the heart to throw in the trash can!

Does McD's have any food item that would fall into the "healthy" or "neutral" healthwise category? Unsweetened ice tea?

Healthy with regards to McDonalds. The walk from the car/truck to the counter inside
to order your "meal" . From the counter to the table to consume "meal" . The walk from
the table to the car/truck to return home. Before leaving, remove ball cap, sunglasses and
fake moustache that prevented friends and family from recognizing you. "Have it your way"

If I can get that Spanish hamburger with bacon or the Canada Chicken Sandwich for a British five pence coin, I'm there. Nearest McDonald's is just two blocks.

Hopefully, some of the folks who post demonetized foreign coins to these forums will see this deal and proceed with alacrity to the Golden Arches. But I fear they won't.

Did anybody get the impression that it was one "almost free" item per person?

Yes. Give them a foreign coin or banknote, get a sandwich. A swap.

It will be mobbed if too many people hear about it.

I still remember getting a free big mac in the 70's by reciting that darn big mac song. Let's see if we can get the jingle one line at a time from different posters. I'll start:

What about de-monetized money? I have a Brasilian 200 mil reis coin that's worth about 20 cents today. Not to mention the cruzeiros and cruzados. Can I use a New Zealand Florin or a Dutch 5 Franc coin? This has potential.

    Says here they'll take coins:

    https://www.bizjournals.com/chicago/news/2019/06/05/mcdonalds-rolls-out-international-menu.html

Says here they EXCLUDE the Spanish entry: the Double Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger!! Talk about bait & switch!! :#:#:#

"Give your foreign currency of any value to the front counter of your local McDonald’s, and receive one of the Worldwide Favorites menu items* of your choice. Enjoy the international experience of deliciously epic proportions – without the jetlag.

*At part. McDonald’s from 2-5pm on June 6. Limit one exchange per customer at front counter only. Only recognized international currency accepted. _Excludes Double Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger._ Foreign currency does not bear any relationship to the value of the menu items and is not intended as a means to purchase the items, but rather is a way for customers to participate in this promotion."

Thanks for the tip! Finally something to do with all the worthless foreign coins I have accumulated. I want to be fun so I am picking out some worthless coins, but coins that are still cool. Here is what I grabbed, two Luxemburg 25 cents from 1927, Barbados penny 2002, Italian 200 Lire 1978, French franc 1941, Mexican peso 1974.

Just got back from my local McD's, and they accepted an unknown foreign coin I had for the Spain bacon burger. I had some unexpected delays with work that delayed lunch until 2, so it worked out perfectly!
