Finally a use for all of the junk foreign coins I acquired as a child and never had the heart to throw in the trash can!
Does McD's have any food item that would fall into the "healthy" or "neutral" healthwise category? Unsweetened ice tea?
So my 1,000 note Won 💴 from Korea or wherever that’s worth 4 bucks will get me $980 in change back plus groceries? I’m sooooo there tomorrow! lol 😂
Later, Paul.
I have bundles of world currency - McDonald’s here I come.
that reminds me the supermarket is having a sale on toilet paper.
Lets see no much time they have to check if something has been demonetized

Great idea to encourage fast food solidarity, Mickey D's!!
Healthy with regards to McDonalds. The walk from the car/truck to the counter inside
to order your "meal" . From the counter to the table to consume "meal" . The walk from
the table to the car/truck to return home. Before leaving, remove ball cap, sunglasses and
fake moustache that prevented friends and family from recognizing you. "Have it your way"
If I can get that Spanish hamburger with bacon or the Canada Chicken Sandwich for a British five pence coin, I'm there. Nearest McDonald's is just two blocks.
Hopefully, some of the folks who post demonetized foreign coins to these forums will see this deal and proceed with alacrity to the Golden Arches. But I fear they won't.
Did anybody get the impression that it was one "almost free" item per person?
Yes. Give them a foreign coin or banknote, get a sandwich. A swap.
It will be mobbed if too many people hear about it.
I foresee some enterprising YN standing outside the business selling junk foreign coins he purchased at 5/$1 for $1 each to the suckers!
I still remember getting a free big mac in the 70's by reciting that darn big mac song. Let's see if we can get the jingle one line at a time from different posters. I'll start:
Two all beef patties
special sauce.... Cheers, RickO
Anybody know if there's a link to the participating stores? I smell a cheap lunch on the way to Raleigh tomorrow!
Lettuce, cheese
Wow, may be worth a shot. I need to look through my junk coins, I bet I have something I could use.
Pickles on a sesame seed bun!
I’m gonna bring a gold Kruggerand and buy lunch for the entire restaurant.

First the Big Mac tokens, now this. Maybe there is a McDonald's executive into numismatics/currency collecting.
Forgot the onions. Pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun...

I picked a bad day to be on a diet!! But I guess if I get the grilled chicken sandwich & take it out of the bread, it'll be ok. Guess I'll use a Canadian penny, since they're plentiful & cheap !!

Nice!

I wonder how many Chuck E Cheese tokens people will try to sneak in.
My flashback from 1968 is driving my 55 Chevy 427 L88 c/gas on Hempstead turnpike and driving thru the first Burger King to eat a whopper. It was very good. Peace Roy

Yeap! Anyone remember doing it backwards?
It says currency!
What about de-monetized money? I have a Brasilian 200 mil reis coin that's worth about 20 cents today. Not to mention the cruzeiros and cruzados. Can I use a New Zealand Florin or a Dutch 5 Franc coin? This has potential.

I can FINALLY use those Canadian Pennies I’ve been saving for something (arguably) worthwhile 🤣

Excludes Double Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger? That's BS! I want my Zimbabwe trillions back.
“The deal is good only for the four items on that new menu at participating restaurants and is limited to one piece of foreign cash per customer. ”
"Participating" restaurants and "recognized" foreign currency will be an issue. Good luck (and who goes to McDonald's between 2 and 5)...
I am confused . Is not currency a bank note, not a coin?
how many currency experts work for a McDonald's?
What is a coin if not fractional currency?

Says here they'll take coins:

Says here they EXCLUDE the Spanish entry: the Double Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger!! Talk about bait & switch!!

"Give your foreign currency of any value to the front counter of your local McDonald’s, and receive one of the Worldwide Favorites menu items* of your choice. Enjoy the international experience of deliciously epic proportions – without the jetlag.
*At part. McDonald’s from 2-5pm on June 6. Limit one exchange per customer at front counter only. Only recognized international currency accepted. _Excludes Double Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger._ Foreign currency does not bear any relationship to the value of the menu items and is not intended as a means to purchase the items, but rather is a way for customers to participate in this promotion."

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
All of the early publicity that I saw included the bacon double cheeseburger. Now it is excluded. Somebody panicked.
There is a single and a double version, the single appears to be included.

Only if it's a foreign Monopoly version
Thanks for the tip! Finally something to do with all the worthless foreign coins I have accumulated. I want to be fun so I am picking out some worthless coins, but coins that are still cool. Here is what I grabbed, two Luxemburg 25 cents from 1927, Barbados penny 2002, Italian 200 Lire 1978, French franc 1941, Mexican peso 1974.

we just went to the local McDonalds and they are a non-participant.
LOL, Publicize all over the place yet only the Nome, AK store is participating. I'm saving my Canadian nickel and going to Subway instead of coming up empty.
Called my local MacDonald's and they are in. Hope to go out there when my kids come home from their last day of school.

Just got back from my local McD's, and they accepted an unknown foreign coin I had for the Spain bacon burger. I had some unexpected delays with work that delayed lunch until 2, so it worked out perfectly!
