I'd say something but I can't seem to figure out what it might be. I will settle on nice!!! that tone draped over any coin would be lovely, draped over this version is remarkable. Bruce, can I come over sometime to look at you collection??

18th and early 19th Century US Coinage, especially high grade examples such as the coins pictured in this thread are very beautiful, with multiple depictions of Lady Liberty and of an Eagle (our national bird).
It would be interesting to have examples of these coins (or photos of them) viewed by a cross section of US society today (i.e. 1,000,000 persons across the country) and have the persons who view the coins provide their opinions on the coins, Lady Liberty and the Eagle.

OMG !!! What a beautiful coin! For those who haven't looked...you should look at the rest of the coins in the Set that this Dime is in.
That's could be pretty easy to do in metropolitan areas with museums. Just get the Smithsonian and other museums to put coins outside their building and on street posts like they often do and then interview people in front of the buildings.

Looking at a blown up photo of the coin shows doubling on the date and possible doubling on some of the stars and some of the dentils on the obverse side of the coin.
On the reverse there appears to be no doubling, except possibly on a small portion of the ribbon.
Does anyone know if machine doubling is present on coinage from the 18th century? If so, is the doubling on this coin machine doubling?
If not, what type of doubling does this coin have?
I think I just wet myself....
