What gives with all the **Answered** tags on the discussions?

Many of the discussions in the US forum are appearing w/ Answered showing on my computer. IMO, some are not even answered. So...

@HeatherBoyd and everyone - is this a new "bug?" Are the mods assigning the "Answered" to the threads?

Until recently, the only place I saw "Answered" use on occasion was in the Q/A Forum.

The Foreign/Ancient board is normal. Looks like someone is trying to improve the software and it backfired.

I was surprised to see a check box asking if the question was answered when I posted the winner of the Apollo New Frontier medals give away.

Same for me. That proves it is a software problem.

Maybe the whole forum is turning into a Q&A format.

Wait til you get a line of emails saying your question has been answered.

Oh boy! What a bad idea.

Likely a contractor maintaining the software (not PCGS) made a small change without prior testing. This has happened several times over the past months. Points to sloppy SW maintenance procedures. PCGS should act immediately, before this kind of thing affects their operation and database control.

(To be clear, "act" doesnot mean only fixing the immediate bug - it means reviewing and correcting the entire underlying maintenance procedure flaw.)

It looks like the question is answered by the first response, which is not always the case. :o

Just means there was a post to the OP’s thread. “Accepted Answer” means the OP selected one or more subsequent posts as the answer.

Yeah, there are some bugs right now. Almost every thread has turned into a "question" thread, even in the bst.

It's strange when you see ANSWERED and there was no actual question.

The "answered" indicators take the place of the little "jump to top" icon that used to be at the bottom right corner.
