    I still hold out hope that they will use it one day on a gold high relief. It is one of the best designs to come out of the mint in a long time! And they didn't use it! Argh!

    I believe the Reverse side will have rays. So, I'm good with no rays on the Obverse.

    I changed to triangles to match that is what is on the reverse.
    I felt that I needed some small detail at the lower right to help balance out the design.
    The "D" on the left is a symbolic mint mark (as a reference to Denver).
    The "C" on the right is meant to actually be a crescent moon (a reference to Moonlight Mint).

    I assume you mean how many times will each medal be struck ?
    Al least four. If four doesn't do it, then I will have to do a lot of extra work on each one.

    And if the "C" is a moon, make it bigger to look like the Moonlight Mint crescent moon (although I think that it might throw off the balance of the image.)

    That reminds me of a little Crafts thing I was shown as a Kid, with a " Land O' Lakes" Indian Maiden. A great way to bring giggles to young Kids.

    Anyway, you do a bit of cutting and some folding and you got a new way of having a bit of Crafts Fun . Any one know what I'm referring to?

    I have one like that and it has its place in my collection but I like your design better..... Your version will be much larger and the subject matter takes up more or the field creating a more pleasing asthetic. I love the flag.

    The Govmint design on a 1 ounce gold round is nice with its high relief but is so small it doesnt draw oohs and aahs. I have both the silver and gold versions and I rarely look at them, in fact the silver is more appealing because of the size, I better pull them out and check....

    I'm certainly in for the silver version. I hope that a few of the gold pieces get exhibited somewhere. :)

    Is it possible to make these in brass as well? On reading your post, it dawned on me that these pieces need to be sufficiently large, and made of the right materials, in order to get the relief so high. I don't know what metals properties are all involved here (hardness, perhaps? malleability?), and I don't know how an alloy like brass compares to the pure Ag and Au you've got planned.

    Dan, Completely off the subject of your new design- Do you have the equipment to strike matte proof gold? A $10 Indian OS in matte proof would be stunning -and like a Stella - a coin most of us could otherwise never afford.

    Hi Dan, 1934 Indians in $10 would be lovely in high grade Ms and matte proof . Maybe even add 1934 quarter and half Eagles to complete a gold type set with your St G $20 ? Host coins would be available near spot and I bet demand would be high.

    OK any DC collector that has a large investment in his coins should be concerned when posted mintage changes go a head an attack me maybe you will get you another off center peace dollar !

    I’m not too concerned about mintage changes. Mintages don’t change often and if they do it is by a small amount. I appreciate that records are kept at all. That’s for official issues.

    I can understand it’s difficult to keep track of one offs or pieces struck in serendipity like off centers, double and triple strikes, etc. which are like errors. For better or worse I think it comes with the territory with these. For example we don’t know the mintages of US Mint errors. The other option could be to make the one offs into regular issues posted in his website, but I’m not sure you’d prefer that either.

    I been snapping a few pictures today and;

    2016 Merlin Knights of the Coin Table Satin Plated VS Polished Plated. Anybody know the difference? I never could figure that out. ;)

    I mean the Polished Color is easy to understand. :*

    Well thats interesting after I posted this I can see the difference in the Satin Plated now! I guess I answered my own question but I still don't know the technical differences. I just buy them.

    Good to see you are putting your photog system to the test!! Merlin was quite an experiment. So many combinations:

    Shield side is proof-like on all medals except Antiqued.

    “MS Color” = Color-Toned Satin finish.
    “PL Color” = Color-Toned polished finish.
    “MS Plate” = Selective Plating (gold/rhodium) on satin finish.
    “PL Plate” = Selective Plating (gold/rhodium) on polished finish.
    “AN Plate” = Selective Plating (gold/rhodium) on antiqued finish.
