corruption perception? Sounds like fake news . All those other countries I don't live in are so terrible ya sure :D But Everything here is great!!!

I think the US is way more corrupt than that map shows . My state Mass ? half the state senators and house members wind up in jail, Mass should be purple , Illinois should be whatever is worse than purple black maybe Chicago is the literal corrupt anus of america :D . Rhode Island should be black filthy corrupt , wall to wall criminals , New York , new jersey purple or Black . Actually all the so called blue states in the US are disgustingly corrupt

The UK should be purple what is corruption if the concept of a "royal family " doesn't describe it? They still have an Aristocracy , a whole class of hereditary parasites that can't be exterminated are holding huge wealth but providing no benefits to society .

Is there a correlation of inflation or hyperinflation to corruption?

Perhaps a correlation of poverty to corruption?

Do the most impoverished have higher inflation? If so, how is that possible? How can there be too much money chasing too few things if everyone is poor?

Very interesting to read an article on transparency.

It states it is drawing upon 13 business-people and expert assessments; but, it does not list them.

Hmm... maybe there is a link... somewhere... Maybe a very fine print... somewhere... hmm....

    Not very transparent!

This ought to get Jmski going...

_"With a score of 71, the US, dropped four points since last year to earn its lowest score on the CPI in seven years. The country is currently witnessing threats to its system of checks and balances, as well as an erosion of ethical norms at the highest levels of power.

The low score comes at a time of growing nativist populist sentiment, a rise in hate crimes, trenchant political polarisation and the longest government shutdown in US history. All of these factors combined only exacerbate the loss of public trust in America’s foundational institutions"_

Why does Saudi Arabia score exactly 50? stoning women to death for driving cars doesn't technically equal corruption if you kill the rich women also? Pushing gays off rooftops is not corrupt because they push the rich ones and poor off in equal proportions ?

Perhaps countries are given bonus points if we buy oil from them or they buy bombs from us? Points are subtracted if they are not customers ?

If we sponsor a coup in Venezuela will it's score go up or down? ;)

Lol, all of the backers of the report seem to be in the countries ranked the highest. No details on the criteria used in the rankings. What are some of the criteria used in the reports compiled by this small group of 13 individuals?

I find it somewhat interesting that the transparency org is funded by groups from the same countries who rank highest in the report, most all of which are European, no elitism there, by golly.

And this will get cohodk going - Tucker Carlson reports significant layoffs in "news organizations", including buzzfeed and CNN due to expiration of a $2 billion defense bill (no transparency or accountability) signed by Obama on his way out the door in 2017, which has been used to fund propaganda and disinformation against Trump in the effort to remove him from office. This is documented by Alex Jones directly referencing the H.R. funding bill from 2017.

A prime example of which is this:

The low score comes at a time of growing nativist populist sentiment, a rise in hate crimes, trenchant political polarisation and the longest government shutdown in US history. All of these factors combined only exacerbate the loss of public trust in America’s foundational institutions"

Yep, absolutely no propaganda bias there. Gee, I wonder where all this polarization is coming from.

Speaking of hate crimes - Twitter is banning posters who make comments that these newly-unemployed "reporters" should "learn to code" - banning them for "hate speech" when that is exactly the same language prince Obama used in 2009 when he was pontificating that unemployed coal miners from West Virginia and Kentucky should "learn to code" if they wanted to find new jobs. It wasn't "hate speech" when prince Obama said it. Interesting, don't you think?

Transfer of wealth is an intentionally slow process caused by corruption and inflation that results in poverty for some. People have money, otherwise there would be no economy. Those with no money still consume. Somebody's paying for that consumption.

What the OP's link doesn't show: the data behind the chart

". . .the United States has fallen four points deeper into corruption than last year. The U.S. now ranks below Luxembourg, Estonia and France, coming in at number 22 on the chart."

Note that this data and chart are based on perception. Perception is usually based on what we are told.

I think perception is more what we see than hear. For example, those that listened to the nightly news over the last decade would have concluded the USA has declined into a morass of doggy do, while those who travelled from sea to shining sea would have seen American greatness.

The question to ask is are we now seeing the muck that lies beneath the swampy water, or have we simply made the swamp bigger?

But regarding your wealth transfer, is it from poor to rich or rich to poor. Would proposed tax law as offered by some politicians such as 70% tax on super high incomes or massive estate taxes slow this wealth transfer?

Looks like we all agree that hyperinflation is most prevalent in poor and corrupt counties, but why do many feel it's presence in imminent in the USA?

Is the "perception" that the USA is equally poor and corrupt?

Is hyperinflation really the result of excessive debt or more due to political, social and economic disfunction?
