PCGS, NGC and CAC

Well, CAC has been around ten years. When it comes to grading what does CAC like to see on a coin and what do they not like to see on a coin...?
I know on gold they do not like copper spots... What do you know?

IMHO they are looking for eye appeal ..... free of major blemishes on any particular grade respectively
They like good luster and original toning. Good surface preservation and nice strike, too.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I agree with the above comments. I would also add the coin should be solid for the grade. Coins that are stretching the grade often fail at CAC no matter it’s other merits. Always exceptions I understand

They are looking for coins that are nice for the grade with original or at least market acceptable surfaces. They don't mind a dipped coin so long as it is done properly.
Care to elaborate?

I don't think that this is true

We know they like money, glue and coins in plastic which are properly graded. But beyond that I'd be speculating.

What is more relevant is how many collectors/dealers LIKE CAC....That is obvious in the premiums realized with CAC stickered coins. Cheers, RickO
CAC stickered coins. Have never bought any and with the advent of counterfeit stickers maybe I'm lucky I didn't.
bin-GO !!
That is the one and ONLY reason to get them. "The propaganda has took", said Pogo.
The VERY rare instance where I'd let one into my ...present...stash would have to be extremely important TO ME !
Or it could languish unbought.
I don't worry about gold as GOLD is competitively sought ALL THE TIME EVERYWHERE EVERYDAY!
A completely unneeded expense except to make coins SALABLE !!
Forget "collectible." It doesn't even enter into the equation now.
A sad innovation.
Huh? I haven't heard about counterfeit CAC stickers, care to elaborate. That is why they have a verification tool on their website using the slab certification #'s.
From what I understand, solid for the said grade and original surfaces. What's not to like?

I think the OP confuses two authentication and grading companies with a "we'll buy that" business.
Sure. Why not search the forum archives for Counterfeit CAC. or try:

I buy CAC because it will make my coins more sell-able down the road and getting them approved after the fact isn’t a sure thing.
I don’t know if original surfaces are a must for CAC as I have a few that don’t appear to be original. I think eye appeal and “solid for the grade” are the keys they look for. Keep in mind I collect early circulated type coins so it may be different depending on the grade and series. I do think twice before buying a coin that doesn’t have a sticker and will inquire to help find out if it was previously sent. I may still buy it but I think that extra due diligence is necessary.
I still can't figure out why some smart cookie hasn't come up with yet ANOTHER "service" to approve the approved.
An "EA" sticker for "Eye Appeal."
Huh? Good idea? huh huh huh?

With any ingenuity slabs could look like rock concert posters on a fence.
I’ve often thought the same thing and even suggested it to a couple dealers with no reaction either way. There are a few like Eagle Eye Photoseal but that’s about it.
Edit: sorry misread the post. I was responding about a 2nd/competing company. Not a CAC-A-CAC type sticker.
RE: "There are a few like Eagle Eye Photoseal but that’s about it."
Geeezzz... have enough trouble keeping my emus and aardvarks apart and happy without trying to the photos of the seals, too. Next, they'll want glasses for all the arachnids!
I'm not sure what they (CAC) like. I have seen nice coins, so so coins and crappy coins with stickers. Sorta like coins with no sticker.
Wait a minute......maybe we should just buy the coin....not the sticker.

Buy the coin without a sticker.
Try to sell it.
Snicker snicker.
Roger is correct. They generally sticker coins they believe they can sell quickly. This means usually nice for the grade with attractive eye appeal. I've seen a number of exceptions to this rule, but they are exceptions to the rule.
