...not....Gonna sell (MS 64 Seated Dollar)

Posted 2 coins now deleted.

And now they're back. I looked at my coin (the first one) and saw what I first saw in it. It is VERY nice. Darkness around the stars is just part of the natural aging, but the coin could not be improved for less than 5 figures.

So.... coin 1 PCGS MS64 CAC

And some advertised "competition"
PCGS MS64....no CAC

And one I just found that is PCGS 64 with CAC.....

Keeping mine. :)

(Thanks for opinions and I've given each of the comments some thought. Conclusion: I like mine.)

I will play......don't know what the heck you are posting?
They both shouldn't be ms64 especially the first.....although the second example is more to my liking..

I like the strike on the 2nd piece... fewer contact marks too.

    Are they the same coin?
Years ago when I started collecting again (stopped as a Teenager) I would have liked the dipped coin . Now I absolutely prefer the tones example, especially with the cameo effect

2 is nice but the dark areas around the stars are distracting to me. (Still a great coin).

No way to deal with that.

I like number 2 but won't guess a grade on either.

I am not a fan of the first coin, but the second one is good for the grade in my opinion. Having said that, there are those who like white coins.

The second coin has better detail... the dark tarnish around the stars is not attractive though... The grade appears acceptable... Cheers, RickO

I was cornfused before and even more so now

I liked no. 2 quite a lot. Certainly more than the first. Not sure about the 64 grade from those pics so I won't argue with the tpgs and cac.

Based just on those pics gotta go (stay with) ‘71 CAC. It’s pretty. And its obverse also looks cleaner than the ‘73 CAC.

Absolutely hands down love the 1st coin the mostest!

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 34,809 ✭✭✭✭✭

The first coin is the best of the three, followed by the third piece. They both show attractive mint luster. The second one has a slightly washed out appearance, which suggests a “C” coin for the grade or maybe an MS-63 grade.

First coin because I like it. It is nearly 150 y/o coin.

No competition between those three when comparing eye appeal (ricko would disagree). I like yours best!

If RickO buys it, I'll pay for the dip. :D

    But no intention of selling.

this thread is confusing but I like the toned coin a lot think that's a great looking coin. Second one has lousy pictures can't tell much about it, third one also looks nice but I'd prefer #1

  • topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

Thread got confused because I confused it. INITIALLY, I was thinking of selling the coin. Then (unlike any other coin collector in history) ...... I changed my mind. :D

Based a bit on what I saw as "comparables." ...er.. well kinda.

So..... I reposted the pix that I had taken down and replaced them. But naturally not in the same order. :s

    And so here it's back.

Oh, also I just found today another CAC Std Dollar (but a proof) with those same dark areas around the stars.

And that makes my point which is no point at all and so everyone have a nice day. :);):D
