Pillar Type Set

I figured that I would share this set being that it is one of the iconic designs which would have been heavily represented in Early America. This set leverages coins from the Cardinal Collection, Norweb and support from CRO & MrE and is currently the finest ever at PCGS with the Real and 4 Reales being Pop 1/0, at least for now. The 1733-MX/XM 4R is in addition a very rare coin with 5 extant this being the finest. I will keep upgrading this set, the 2R and eventually with the right 8R. While the 1R is awesome, I actually like my original P65 better and will try it for regrade soon.

I gave a lot of thought to doing that. It's a cool set.
Historic and the progression of sizes is esthetically pleasing to look at.

Congrats on the effort. It's worth it. :)

It is an accomplishable set on most budgets and wonderfully historical.

Great set Brian. Thanks for posting it.

I might put one of those together after I finish my Bust Halves.

Absolutely amazing coins.... Very impressive (both sets).... I have been feeling an attraction to the Reales... Have been resisting, but viewing these may be my tipping point.... Cheers, RickO

I wanted a love button for that last group of coins.

I have most of the pillars, missing just the 1 real. Your set is awesome, and the prooflike (!) 1733 4R is rightfully immortalized as Miss May 2017. As much as I dislike Ferd 7's portrait, those are great coins, too.

I am doing several type sets from the Spanish Colonial and Latin American countries. You can see all of the coins organized by denomination in the link in my signature line.

I have a complete silver set of Charles IV and the finest known and only gem Charles IV 8 escudos. The set needs several upgrades with all but the 8R and 8E open to change.

The Charles III set is still fluid. I have a fantastic 1R in 63 (super tough coin), 4R in 62 (highest graded last I checked) and a wonderful 8R though a hoard date but not from the hoard. I am missing a suitable 1/2R and the 2R could stand to be upgraded. I have the Norweb 1776 4 escudos in 58 and a Rat Nose 8E in 63+ which again is finest graded at PCGS and tied at NGC with a lesser coin.

The Ferdinand VII set is also a work in progress including all of the imagined bust types. I have found several amazing coins and am working my way through the set. I am missing the 4R's which are so tough. Here are a few examples of the 8R's. Note the first is from Chile and is an amazing 64.

And I am working on the Argentinian Sunfaces...

    Mexican Cap & Rays...

and basically any other cool 8R's and coins from that period

Incredible coins. I don't know how anyone could see a post like this and continue ignoring the dark side.

If that 1805 8R ever gets upgraded for you let me know!
