    Looks like a mutilated 1868, not 58.

Why do people think that these horribly damaged coins are going to be worth diddly?

    I just don't get it.

Some even think it's only worth diddly squat.

In our highly politically correct age, I avoid using that last word anymore. It can easily be misconstrued.

Great work Bill. Should have noticed that but did not. Concentrated on the date. Shame on me.

100% an 1888 due to date size, shape, and spacing. It doesn't match any other date ending with an 8.

Kinda looks like a doubled Die to me.............then again I I've been seeing them everywhere
anyhow as Bill says it's unlikely a 1858.

Bill has the correct attribution... based on feather design, I'd venture 1888...

Badly damaged IHC..... not worth anything really...only as a memento of coins of yesteryear. Cheers, RickO
