Unbelieveable,Morgan Dollars 1896 O $1 DOUBLE STRUCK

The doubling is evident on both sides so it may be from multiple striking. Or it could be doubling in the die or mold from which it was made.

There are some other very odd things about this coin: notched letter bases in "UNITED" (typically seen on broad-strikes); narrow rims with missing and/or irregular dentils in some areas; very flat relief; and rusty-looking corrosion.

I believe it is a counterfeit and might not be made of silver. The question is, is it a vintage counterfeit or not. A vintage counterfeit would have some value. It does not match any previously-known (VAM-listed) counterfeit.

Can you post a picture of the edge ?

Right now, the 1896-O Morgan Dollar is one of the more common modern counterfeits out there. This one has several points that leads me to believe this coin is a modern fake. Well, actually it's over whelming.

The coin might be unbelievable, but believe me when I tell you that if the weight displayed on the scale is correct the piece is fake.

Fake right from the get-go. Look at the narrow rims and low relief.
