Guess the Grade 1821 Large Cent Grade Revealed

I purchased this when I was thinking about a date of large cents. I'm still thinking although "the two bears" 1799 and 1804 keep me thinking. This 1821 large cent is graded AU-58.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I would guess AU-58.
58+. I may be a tad conservative, but I think I see some wear. Love the milk chocolate color which is always my preference with early copper.

AU 50 by current slab standards. Wear is obvious on the high points.

I agree with an assigned MS62. Not what I would give it, though.

It's better than the one I bought from Harry Laibstain years ago, which was formerly housed in both NGC AU55 and PCGS AU55 holders. So I will say PCGS AU58.
It's a beautiful coin for the rarity...AU58
AU58/58+ but MS 62 would not surprise me.
You've posted this before - I can't forget it, as it's one of the nicest '21s I've ever seen.
Although it looks to be in a new holder now? I'll guess AU58, but perhaps it upgraded
recently. Regardless it is a stunning coin.
Need to actually see the coin. I think this is an open collar strike. Wear may be evident on forehead and hairlines above Liberty not complete. A few flat spots on upper leaves on reverse. Normally, I would say this is wear. But since it's an open collar strike, it could be that the coin was not fully struck. If it's the latter, the coin is a low grade Unc. If the former, it's a mid-grade AU.

I think the coin graded low MS. Let's say 62. But who cares what the coin grades, that's one hell of a coin. 1821 is not an easy date to find this nice. By way of example, here's my 45:

That is one nice looking '21. I would guess it's a 58, and in that grade range you may to shell out a lot of dinero for the 1799 and 1804.... but it would make an awesome looking set!
Taking into account the fact that the coin is in a recent holder, I'll guess it goes low MS. In an older holder, I might be more inclined to go with AU.

When everyone here hits the grade on a slab exactly or very close (AU-55 & 58) I think we can agree that the TPGS did an outstanding job on this one!
