    Awesome catch!

    I wonder what will happen to the coin's value, being either way it's a details/genuine coin? I liked it better holed.

    Exactly...and personally with the expert repair(of course with full disclosure) I think the coin is worth more now. It's a risky undertaking to repair early copper. I have been told many have exploded when the heat needed to execute a repair is applied!

    Wow! Expertly repaired, indeed. The filled hole on the reverse stands out a bit, and there is a hit at the cut end of the branch that the doctor should have repaired. I hate the color, though.

    The only saving grace is that even though it's been altered, at least we know it's genuine.

    I wonder if they didn't have a previous record of the coin would they have cought it?

    It may look crude to the early Copper guys, but to me it looks like that DR has a few hours under his belt and did a pretty convincing job, (unfortunately for the average collector) and without strong magnification it would be tough to detail that one in the grading room without taking the extra time and research. But kudos to the staff for taking the time to get it right.
