Have you seen the 2018 Proof Sac Dollars??

I know that a lot of members don't really like the Sac Dollars but at least our Uncle at the Mint is trying to make them interesting. Just as the one ounce Proof Platinum coins have a different reverse each year, so has the Sac Dollar changed. There have been some attractive designs and this year is sort of nice. It pays homage to perhaps the greatest athlete of the 20th Century, Jim Thorpe. The coin features an almost full forward view of Thorpe with renditions of him playing Football as well as what looks like the Hurdles from the Olympics.
If someone can post a picture, please do. Thanks in advance.

No proofs, but I ordered 10 uncirculated ones, most to give away to coworkers. A Surprising amount of them are casual collectors.

Lovely!!
When I got my proof set that was one of the first things I noticed. I like the design.

I actually like that design (much better than the carp we have seen lately). But not enough to buy a proof or mint set.
I'll wait until I see them in circulation.

I had been purchasing a roll of the Sac’s every year from the USM.......but a football player for the reverse?. I truly have had a enough from them . Sent it back for a refund and took myself off of the enrollment program for the Sacs. A ridiculous amount of money anyways. I’m getting wiser as I age.
OMG, What a crock put something like this.
Hoard the keys.
I'm a Thorpe fan and actually like this coin !
Jim Thorpe and Jesse Owens were two of the last centuries really great athletes. I may get one of these. Cheers, RickO
He was a native American football player. I was confused when I first saw it. But then I learned something new. Coins always teaching.
What I dislike about the reverse is that it reminds me of a Commerative coin so to speak.
The Eagle took flight. It’s the only thing I don’t like about this series.

Has anyone seen one like this?
The football picture of him looks really weird to me. The ball looks like it's just glued to his hand or something. Not natural at all.
pro football coaches would have a fit seeing a running back carry the ball like that
I think they may have taken a page on awfulness of design from the Pobjoy Mint!
That having been said, I have much respect for Mr. Thorpe and hold him in great regard.
I like the obverse now uncluttered.
Well, just Love coins, period.
Darn.......When I saw this thread today I thought @keets was back.
Hope he's back soon.

What a coincidence - I _have _ seen one like that. Right here on the forum - someone posted a picture of one.
That could be a rarity - not sure how waffled coins are valued but that is a one year issue so might be scarce. I would be inclined to have it slabbed to preserve it provenance. Once someone figures out how to recreate that waffle pattern I expect the significance of waffled coins to pretty much evaporate.
One was an American Indian and the other an American Black.

Both faced persistent racial discrimination in the United States. Wonder how many trees they had to run behind just to take a leak, 'cause the public 'facilities' were closed to them?
My thoughts exactly! I wonder what's up?

It's the low relief again! I made comment previous to this about how the baby on the obverse in the papoose looks like its growing out of Sakies back.
