AU58 can produce some nice coins. An easy up grade but I love this 58...

This little guy turned up in Austria a while back.
This late date Pillar dollar is an AU58.

My only 58.
I have several AU58's (working on my Everyman Set), but would an AU58 Gold CAC count as a 58++?

my understanding of a AU58 coin is ....if not for some rub on the high points the coin would/should grade gem (65)....has it changed ?

An amazing display of coins here... I doubt any of us have looked through these coins and did not say a couple of times - "No way, that is a 63 (or some grade) at least.".... Cheers, RickO

I bought this 1807 quarter from the late Cathern Bullowa more than 40 years ago. In some ways it seems like a lifetime ago. Her grade was "Virtually Uncirculated." It's now an NGC AU-58.
All of these are 58 & 58+.

Lance.
Yes. Some AU-58 coins are very disappointing these days. In the past the thought was the AU-58 coins were MS-64 coins with a rub.
Always loved this coin
