    The no "F" is nice...but I appreciate the overdate more! Great grade on the 1861/0 as well! Nice looking half dimes!

    I always thought it just toned that way for some reason but now that you mention it..... I'll have to get it out and take a closer look.

    I'm suspicious now, given how the line goes right over the denticles. Maybe there was a thread, hair, or something VERY small. That line is so so tiny in person.

    The other coins in the Wayte Raymond album ranged from cleaned/damaged/tooled to original XF to gem proof. There was not much consistency in quality. Some of the good ones included a 1796 Draped Bust that graded PCGS VF25, a 1797 15 stars that graded PCGS VG10, a couple of R5-R6 Capped Bust varieties in the AU range, a pretty toned 1859 that made MS65, an 1860 J-267 (now PCGS MS63), my avatar coin (1868 PCGS PR65 CAM), and several other nice proofs, all PR63-65. There were two pretty toned coins right at the end of the set, 1872-s (mm above) and 1873-s, that both graded PCGS MS65. Many of the other coins were ho-hum, or else they were problem pieces. It came with a stock box of circ. half dimes, and there were 325 pieces altogether. The total number of coins was probably the most astonishing thing about the collection!

    Now back to Seated quarters.... 1890 in PCGS MS65+.

    Wow, an 1843 PR-63, with tripled date.
    Is this from Superior 2000-10?

    Have you ever seen the ex-Reed Hawn 1843 proof?
    Supposedly it is from a different obverse die, with the date higher.

    I have an 1843 attribution guide, where I tried to ID all the die marriages; your coin is listed in the roster for V-10u.

    This one hasn't been sold since the '50s or '60s, according to the owner.

    I haven't seen the Reed Hawn coin, although I'd like to see John Dannreuther's notes on it.
