Not exactly a classic but it still makes my heart skip a beat and is a blast to drive - 2005 CL65 AMG, V12, 604 hp. Hope it runs forever! Picture stolen off the internet.

    Love Todd's 1st 2 cars!!

Thanks FastFreddie for telling me of the updated way you can post photo's now. Unfortunately I hadn't made any comments about the preceding photo (my Red Duster and my son's Blue Duster). I haven't found a photo of my '40 Ford street rod truck.....Oops! Yes I did.

Only an incidental connection. Like when I compared the challenges of academic and tpgs grading and people jumped all over me for there being no comparison.

  • Owned for 49 1/2 years. Drive on NICE days. A fun car

I'm not a coin collector but do collect ball cards. I saw this thread and thought I would share my classic car if it is ok with you guys. 1968 Beaumont SD396 that now has a 543 hp 427.

Basically a Canadian Chevrolet Chevelle with a 396 V8 and a Pontiac front grille and a Pontiac interior.
    That is a rare one.

There is a name I recognize. Hi Dan. I really like your Sprint SP. Another rare car. I also like your Chevelle production number poster.

You are mostly correct. The interior is basically the same as a Chevelle except the dash. the dash/instrument cluster is the same as a Pontiac LeMans or GTO would have. There were 702 built. Estimates are that 70 to 100 remain. My guess it that there are 10 to 12 in the US.

Some beautiful classic cars in this thread, but I like modern cars. Mine has a 300 Hp. V-6 that will get 30 mpg. 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds. These are internet photos of a 2016 Nissan Maxima

I have an '83 as well. Two owner. Original owner kept a full log of activities for the car and all receipts. I have done the same for the 20 odd years I've had 'Donna Datsun'. [Donna because of the female voice that lets you know if you are low on gas, left your lights on, or had one of your doors turn into a jar.] Digital dashboard is so 80's kitschy. Also love getting the notes with offers to buy the car (seems I get a note at least one of every 5 times I park the car on the street).

The T-Top is so easy to remove while in the car - just toss it in the back. Wonderful car. It is also a hauler - it can hold numerous 8' 2x4/ 2x6s for transport. A baby pickup truck.

The new car is a 2003 350Z. Some significant advancements over the 20 years. Still love the '83; it fits me like an old shoe.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

@BustDM, have you spent more money on your numismatic library, or the Z???

I got back into collecting coins in 1983. My wife had a 1983 280ZX....

I drive an old Toyota because it is cheap but still reliable. That way I can afford to buy coins!

Yup. Restoring a 1957 Chevy Nomad to replicate one I had in college (my icon). Not sure which is the biggest money pit, the coin collection or the car. Can't wait to get it on the road.

I love classic cars more than anything. My health doesn't allow me to drive, so I've made it my goal to photograph as many as I can...I took about 4000 photos at car shows in 2017 alone...I am pictured in the December 2017 Hemmings Motor News taking a photo at the Hemmings Concours in Lake George NY.
Even though I can't drive, I am hoping to have an El Camino at some point soon. My brother has already said he'd drive it for me, and he takes me to most of the shows already anyway. Would like to have an Edsel as well but I know realistically I'll never be able to afford it.
Our family daily driver had been a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited since 2003. It has not moved under it's own power since 2015, and I wanted to fix it but was outvoted. Caused a lot of arguments. Even more hard feelings. It's for sale now, would be an easy fix for someone physically capable of doing the work...I'm not.

If anybody wants to see my automotive photography website I'd be glad to share the link.

Actually, close, but a little bit more. A Beaumont SD396 is equal to the US version of the Chevelle Super Sport 396. "Super Duty" are very rare compared to the south of the border numbers produced.

Lot's of great cars on this thread, and most of the coin guys on this forum have great knowledge of cars. Coins and Cars seem to be connected at the hip........

    A very enjoyable thread.

Chevy Truck. 2015 1500 Silverado. Looks good on the rare occasion that it’s clean. It’s no pavement princess as my other hobbies keep it plenty dirty.

Classic old cars? A ‘69 Camaro might find its way to the stable someday. We’ll see.

    Nice beachcraft.

  • My first car was a 1957 T Bird that I drove for ten years, then restored it from the frame up. Sold it when the family started. I sure miss my bird rides with the hard top off. When at UT Austin the girls liked to ride around in it and I enjoyed driving them around.

The SD is Sport Deluxe not Super Duty.

I've got both old and new. 1964 GTO tri-power, four speed that I restored, including body and paint. Next up is 09 Corvette that we bought new.

If I had to collect something from my collecting time frame it would have to be a horse. And, I had one of those once and that once was enough!

I had a 1970 Chevy Nova. Not really a classic muscle car but it was black with a white racing stripe and had the classic look. I drive a big fat H2 now but have been doing some light looking around for a 1970 or thereabouts Mustang or Camaro. I would pick up one of the first 2 years Dodge Vipers if I came across one for the right price and in blue with white stripe.

Sorry it took so long, pain in the rear to post a link on the tablet. Actually on the forum on my computer now for the first time in a while. This is my main website. I also created a Facebook page for my car show photography, but it's new and doesn't have much on it yet. Eventually I will get more posted.
