Objectively speaking this might be pretty much a 'meh, who cares?' type of coin to most collectors, but I've really liked it ever since I found it at a show in October of 2004.
Not worth anything but the US Navy counterstamp is a tie-in to Churchill's honorary US citizenship, and there is actually a USS Winston S. Churchill in the US Navy.
An 1854-O Three Dollar Gold Piece ... just because it's a decent looking example of a coin that was not well made ... it it completes a "PDO" set. The grade is AU-50.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
@JBK.... That Churchill medal with the Navy stamp is great.... Would love to find one like that. Being former Navy and an admirer of Churchill (and a collector of Churchill quotes and items).. that would have definitely been in my collection. Let me know if you decide to let it go.... Cheers, RickO
